peace by peace…another little progres…

#123

Mazalo I applaud you taking on this piece,I don’t know how you are handling such a huge composition.
I have to admit at being beaten by the full composition of the dwarf painting, and so gave it up, as I started with too small a canvas and so I decided to do a bigger study of it instead.
I have tried to keep it loose and give it an alla prima feel too it, I think I’ll skip onto the other Velasques painting and do somethig with that instead.

#124

cheers to all! everyone is doing a fantastic job!

there is something horribley wrong with my other painting so im going to set it aside for now and start it again later with a fresh eye. I’m working on the other Velazquez. heres what i have so far.

#125

Claybub, I have got to say you are doing a better job than I did with the Velasques Dwarf, it had me beat…ended up just doing a face study. Welldone so far, you look like you have got the face pretty much spot on.

I just started this up, I have never really done anything like this with a wacom tablet. So it may take me some time. I trying to establish proportions, negative space and placement on the canvas with the blue lines. The red lines are starting to establish details. When everything is sketched out I will start roughing out a black and white tonal study. This should allow me to easily low opacity color later on, in theory that is.

#130

xiannc: i lke the feel to it already!

mazalo: amazing

abeld3dg: i really like your colors! it looks like it’s going to turn out really great, what resolution are you working at?

i think i’ll start working on mine again tonight

#131

Hi Guys…

A bit more progress (including working on the mirrored scene separately on a larger scale to get the details in).
Hopefully, by the end of making this copy, her expression will be a lot softer and less fed-up-looking!

Here is my update from last night while watching three kids:

sturmkim - yes real watercolor PENCIL. I have a hard time with just watercolor and I love color pencils now. So this one I just add water… the pencils are different. I only work in traditional mediums because I haven’t purchased a wacom yet. I think I will in the next few weeks though. Then maybe I can put some digitals out there. Until then, y’all have been nice enough to let me practice with the best. Thanks!

#135

eilidh: Thank you  I’ve just been experimenting with adding patterns to some of my existing brushes really. So some are my own and some are by others, but heavily modified.

Here’s my update, 2 days old :stuck_out_tongue: I didn’t want to continue working on it till I posted it because I think I’d go crazy and finish it off in a day. That wouldn’t be any fun then.

#136

Ok here is a quick sketch of the next head study…Now going to work on top of this.

#137

Workin on top of the sketch using some transparent layers…here is were I am at the moment.

#138

Here I worked on some background…

…at the begining I thouth that this will be a big challenge for me , and it is…but I am satisfied with my progress so far…I am enyojing every brush I make…
…I started very simple:
…first I made a quick skech with pencil in painter, then put the blue color in the background…and some orange…
…on another layer I started to block siluetes of the “company” and background to quickly get the feeling for the hole painting…I always work using underpainting technic …
…then I flatten all the layers, and started to work on details ,from left to the right…

#139

heres an update

#140

Wow, there is some just tremendous work going on here! :applause: I’ll comment on everyone’s pieces later, but for the time being, I just want to congratulate everyone on a great job so far ~ please keep pushing your pieces further! Keep up the great work! :bounce:

Cheers,
