Ah hello again,

Rebeccak- Well I’m gald I can finnally do one of these. Arg. Yea this is kind of my way of working. I’m really likeing corels artist’s oils. ALot. They are really intuitive and quick for blending. This is just a quick sketch and block. I take off my glasses and paint. :slight_smile:

aggie93-Thanks man :slight_smile:

Well heres my update
blended the colors for a hour and abit.

#223

Andrew,

Looking good! Glenn / SpiritDreamer’s favorite blending tool is Just Add Water, and it really works nicely! You might try blending in places (not too much) with the blender of your choice.

I also think giving him a background might be helpful ~ up to you. :slight_smile:

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

It´s not that I don´t find the time to participate in this workshop… I don´t find the time to paint at all:banghead: And, that makes me really sad, and a bit stressed actually :frowning:
But I´m lurking around here as often as I can, downloading the referencepics, just in case there will be an hour or two where I can steal some time with my brushes. They will come - sooner or later.
But until then, I look in awe at your beautiful paintings! What progress you´re all making! Caravaggio is meeting his match here:)

Keep it up - and I´ll join you soon again I hope :wavey::wavey::wavey:

SaraD,

I was really wondering what had happened to you! It’s great to hear from you, it’s been a bit quiet in terms of the regulars, and it’s nice to see you’re about. :slight_smile: Here’s hoping you can find some time soon! :slight_smile:

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#226

AH thanks for the heads up rebecca, My blender of choice is wet oily pallet knife and soft blender brush, I havn’t used just add water one, I will try it out tonite. Oddly enough I’m at the point where its time to blend. THis was just half an hour, but its at the point where I blendblend blend blend :). Wanted to show the level where I stop blocking.

And an hour a bit later

#227

Andrew,

Nice blending so far! Is there any particular reason why you like to work against a pure white background? :smiley: I think that this would make things a lot harder than they need to be ~ also it affects all your colors. :slight_smile: It might be interesting to see a few warm tones in the reflected light areas…nice work with the overall balance and proportions!

Cheers, :slight_smile:

Hello everyone, I took a 4 days vacation :slight_smile:

@Rebecca.
Thanks a lot, glass has never being my speciality, but I tried to do something nice for this one, glad to heard it likes u. :arteest:

@aggie93.
Thank u very much, well, I had that temptation too, but I thought that I spend lots of time in the characters, so, I spend a little bit more on the table, thanks a lot for your words again. :wavey:

@Glenn.
Hope this update likes u, thank for the compliment.

I didn’t understand at all this "PS…does that bread have a glistening glaze on it’s top…can’t remember, but thought that
I would mention it… " my english is not good enough. :shrug:

I took a look around in ur portfolio, u have some beautiful work there, congrats :applause:
I haven’t made mine because I had some troubles at the create porfolios page, dont know why, but I push create porfolio and nothing happends, maybe later…

anyway great work, thanks again for the encouragment.

Hi…Enrique…:slight_smile: …BEAUTIFUL COLORS…really like that touch of purple in the background,
nice touch…:thumbsup:
That glistening glaze on the bread that I mentioned, is when you brush butter on the top of the loaf
of bread, and then bake it in the oven…makes the crust on the top of the loaf of bread
glisten or have a slight shine to it…more so than the rest of the loaf of bread.
Can’t wait to see the colors in the food, and on the table top…:slight_smile:
Thank you also for the kind words concerning my paintings, and am really looking forward to
seeing more of yours…:slight_smile: :thumbsup:

@Rebecca.
Thank u very very much, as a fact, this process (coloring) is the faster in all the paint, all the colors were set in around 35 min. i felt that i must to start with the colors because, I’m getting bored with the values, later I will back to them for some retouches, glad to hear it likes u.

@Glenn.
Thanks man, got the bread thing, and I will try it, here in Mexico, there is not to much space for the illustrations with serious themes, :cry: apart from my personal works, almost all my paints are for children’s books, and the most part of all my renders are for poduct shots.

I will try to make my portfolio here is very difficult for me since I dont know too much about the internet’s forums, (that is too much technology for me, i guess :D), if somebody could help me, I’ll be thankful, thanks to everyone.

#232

Enrique,

I think I know the problem.

Unfortunately, you can’t have a space in your username, you have to change your name before being able to create a CGPortfolio ~ this is because the URL of your CGPortfolio page is based on your username, and a URL can’t have spaces or odd characters.

To change your name, go here:

Can you please change my name?
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=244314

And pretty shortly your name will be changed. Once your name has been changed, you should be able to create a CGPortfolio. I recommend posting to the “Can you please change my name thread” something like:

“I wish to change my user name so that I can create a CGPortfolio. Please change my name to DigitalSol”

(or whatever name you, Enrique, prefer).

Cheers, :slight_smile:

#233

Done, thanks a lot becca :thumbsup:

#234

No problem! Looking forward to seeing your Portfolio up. :slight_smile:

#235

What do u think guys and gals, Im pleased with this one, also I want to start a new project, should I just consider finished or not?

#236

Enrique,

A quick answer, and I will try to answer more in depth later…

Perhaps there is too much magenta in the painting? I can understand your wanting to move on, but you’ve come this far, you should try to perfect this! :thumbsup:

Particularly in the foreground character’s right hand, I think it’s too red / orange. Can you post a larger image (800 width) for us to inspect? :slight_smile:

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#237

Sol - Great work. Good to see you stick with it to the end! Everything turned out clean and so finite. Look forward to more participation, maybe in the self portrait thread. It has been fun.

Reb - What’s next on the OFDW? I should be able to contribute on the next one. I also almost bought a Walcom this weekend. I am going to shop for the lowest price and then I’ll do some digitals. They come with photoshop and coral for $199 for the 4x5. Is that good?

#238

#239

Guys,

So, next Sunday night a new OFDW will start.

Any suggestions for images? Tizianoadmirer has sent me one already that I’ll probably include.

I am thinking mix of Master Copy and basic reference again.

If you have a link to a particular image on Art Renewal, feel free to post the link here. The major requirement is that there are figures and that the image is hi~res.

I still have a number of Master Painting reference images in the queue that I’ll post later for review.

Cheers, :slight_smile:

~Rebeccak

#240

Enrique,

Thanks for that bigger version! :slight_smile: I think there is too much orange on the left side of the picture, and too much pink in the tablecloth so far. You really want all of the emphasis to go to J’s face, and I think the orange is a bit too distracting and uniform.

But ~ overall, just really beautiful work. :applause:When you are completely finished, would you consider creating a Tutorial for your piece here in the Forum (as a separate Tutorial thread)?

Cheers, :slight_smile:
