Hey Chipmasque,

Man! So much has been added since last night. Hard to keep up.

zhuzhu I love the colors for the study. I think you got the impression of the colors of the original down. Can’t wait to see more.

Zephyr I agree, the pose is very much Bougereau/Leighton. I like that you put the shading behind the figures’ heads to help bring them out. I’m going to agree with chipmasque on the halo.

Rebeccak loving the progress. These were all on seperate sheets of paper before being combined digitally, right? That’s a lot to keep track of.

Gord-MacDonald Good start with the blocking. And thanks for the blocking advice; I’ll try to keep it in mind when I get started on it tonight.

DarkKnightBG Good start with the lines. Looks like everything is in order.

SaraD Woot!

'Kay, that’s it for now. Gotta get to the day job. Next post will be the start of the actual project.

#169

Not much of a progress…but one thing is clear now: I hate cloth and wrinkles

Blocked in all shapes and basic colour-schemes…
Started with the foot of one angel…working from there to the head Then iĀ“ll start with the background angel…
Slowly moving…but step by step

edit:
Just recognized, that the foot is way too small…will change that…
Wow…seeing it in this distance und resolution really helps…

Mike / default, great to see you here my friend - hoping to see a refined piece come out of this.

Johan, ah gotcha. Thanks!

LaPalida, welcome friendly CA'er! Lovely work, looking forward to more. :)

DarkKnightBG, great start, I'm sure you're going to get a lot out of this - keep pushing forward!

beelow, great to see you in this! This will make a great study.

Nothingness, thanks a lot! Glad to see you here!

SaraD, always good to have the regulars come back round - beautiful start so far.

ha-dou-ken, looking forward to seeing your work!

nimal, thank you, I'm not sure about how fast but am trying, heh.

zhuzhu *faints* - gorgeous and inspiring work as always!

iman121, thank you, great start on yours, keep pushing it!

Asatira, thanks, yep, the sheets are all separate, not sure it's the best way to work, but I've always wanted to experiment this way. Glad to have your participation!

Deracus, good blocking in, looking forward to more. :)

[left]I've drawn the upper right leg and used a copy of it for the upper left leg, which I think is working better than the prior one. All still very much WIP'ish, and will experiment digitally to get things to gel more cohesively, first with lines, but today I still want to work traditionally. I'll probably have to start looking at reference at this point to try to tie everything together:

[left]EDIT: Ok, redrew the lower leg and duplicated it, I think it looks better:

night update…

#177

Wow, so much great work already. Exciting to see some are doing it in traditional media, I was thinking about that myself, but then changed my mind. And pretty many are doing imaginational pieces, these are wonderful to see among all the master studies here. Keep going everyone!

This piece is popular here as I see, hehe. Here’s mine start. Lots of corrections to do, I see a lot of mistakes and hopefully they’ll be corrected on the next update.

#178

Here are some color studies. I stayed with a red base color because, well let’s face it… he’s the Devil. I also chose to stay with the red theme for the background because I think hells a pretty warm place. I’ll lighten up the background a bit before the final piece is done. - S

oooh he’s looking really cute shanesart! If you aren’t already planning on it I’d suggest for to you add some blues and purples in the shadows of the figure to lessen the flatness of everything, it would make the reds pop out even more in contrast

It’s just a suggestion though!!

You people are amazing, it’s great to see the progress of your works

I haven’t started, yet, not good.
