Opacity falloff controlled by light



i am trying to do this with my texture in maya, linked an after effects tutorial here as an example.
can anybody point me in the right direction on this one?



I’m not entirely sure which step it is you’re looking for in this, but it’s in there somewhere.



I forgot to mention im using vray. I cant get that ramp shader to work with vray. The falloff in vray dosent have “by brightness” feature…


I would look on google for something like “night and day shader VRAY” and see if anything pops up. Sorry I don’t have the time right now to look for something, but i’m sure there’s a similar method for VRAY. Good luck.
