Onion Skinning Crash and LW question

#1

Messiah is crashing everytime I try and use the onion skinning feature.

It gives me the standard windows “… has encountered a problem and
needs to close…” error window.

anyone got any ideas? I really need this function.

My second query concerns integration with Lightwave.

I have a rig in lightwave that I really like and can work with easily,
is there anyway to use it in messiah? I don’t know much about rigging
in messiah and I don’t know if I have time to learn it.

Am I able to block out poses using a rigged character in Lightwave
then complete the animation in messiah?

Cheers

This drove me bonkers for a few days too. For me it was because I’d set the Post Frames option in the Onion Skin block to 0.

You either rig and animate in Lightwave or you rig and animate in messiah

If the rig was a straight forward fk heirarchy of objects you “may” be able to block out poses and take them across, but I haven’t tried it and it’s a pretty simplistic case.

If you know how to rig in Lightwave, messiah is easy to learn and way more capable, but I reckon you’d need to allow a month to get up to speed for anything complex.

I can’t even get into the onion skin options. It crashes as soon as I select onion skinning from the customize menu.

Any ideas?

hmm. After you’ve loaded your scene, try right-clicking the Customize tab and make sure Onionskin->Activate is not checked. That should let you open the Onion Skin block without it crashing.

Failing that, I’d close messiah, delete C:\Documents and Settings[…your usernme…]\Local Settings\Temp\messiah\messiah4.cfg and see if that fixes it.

And if THAT doesn’t work… reinstall?

Thank you so much. I had the pre/post frames at ahigh level, must’ve been the problem.

Huge help,

Cheers
