Hello All,

Nice to be a part of this august group. I am probably the oldest member but will not dwell on that!
I am a retired aerospace Quality Engineer living in Southern California, USA. Been divorced
for years and now live with a housefull of cats. I know; an old man with cats!
Have been a fanatic about automobile racing since I was 14 years old and started doing traditional art regarding vintage racing cars about 15 years ago. Got into 3d as a way to create preliminary drawings. 3d was so fascinatiing that I gave up the art and haven’t painted in about 6 years. Started with Strata 3d Pro 3.5 and graduated to C4D R8.5 about 2 years ago. Love doing the racing cars of the 1950-1960 era.
CG Talk is the best forum I have come across and have received much help here. Hope I can respond in kind.

Cheers,
Kent Burkhead

Jules, cats are plentiful and easy to come by. Growing old is a natural process based on survival. Your aspirations should be easy to fulfill. Enjoy the trip!

The cats mission I’ve allready suceeded with [two of the little peskie blighters, and not much undammged furniture]. The growing old [relatively] is more daunting.

Take care

Hey Kent, a fellow automotive artist here, I’m a big fan of the older type racers as well, I have 1/12th scale model of Al Unsers dirt Champ car sitting on my desk right alongside me.

Hi Steve!
Alright! Sounds like you have the GMP die cast model. I have several of the 1/18 models. Those years were the Golden Age of American racing in my opinion. I was very fortunate to have seen most of the greats of that period run. The Unsers, Foyt, Vukovich,Bettenhausen, Jones, etc. Sure miss the sound of the Offys! Have you done any CG modeling of these cars? I am currently modeling the Kuzma built Dean Van Lines champ car as driven by Jimmy Bryan in the 50s.

Good to hear from you. We will have to start a string of vintage open wheel racing cars.

Take care, Kent
