If you mean the old EIAS books they are available via Amazon.com

Both have an EIM section included, if i remember correctly.

Nevermind than i was just asking for the chess pieces they had to practice with. i dont think neither of these books have that section. Do you know what i am talking about? Is ok I can use the modeler now with my mac i need to order a new dongle since i have the grey dongle. Thanks anyways Stefan.

Ok, i digged them out to be sure again.

In the “Electric Image Handbook” There are about 100 pages tutorial stuff on how to model this chess set.

In “Professional 3D with EIU” there are about 90 pages of EIM with a tutorial on modeling a complete Kitchen and another one on how to use UeberNurbs.

Both books come with a CD Rom.

Edgard,

I think you’re referring to the Lance Evans Uberbundle with EIM MediaBook:

http://www.3dny.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=30

Quite a nice resource and one that I hope EI buys and repackages.

Wow,i never saw this one book i think this looks ore interesting than the one PaulS did the front cover for it, it came with the EIM. But this one i think is more adnaced it is a hame that there will be a new interface and a lot to learn from Tesla or is it an upgrade of the old modeler? Thanks for the info JimM. I got it on my whislist.
Edgard

PS: I hope Tesla comes well documented and full of video tutorials at least some good reference manual with a lot of step by step tutorials from the beginer to the highend.

Regarding Tesla, a dongle free public beta would be nice, to show a broad audience what we can expect.

First - what a dig-dong I am! I just realized that I have all the manuals and books you guys are referring to in the box I originally bought EI off e-bay.

I’ll have a look tomorrow to see if I have the chess project your referring to.

Talking of which has anybody have a spare copy of EIAS 5.5 with the modeler included that they don’t need that they may want to sell - nice an cheap? It needs to run on OSX. I have the OS9 version but thats no good.

No harm in asking.

The chess set tutorial is in the John Sledd “Electric Image Handbook”. Looks like it was written by Chris Weyers (the modeling section) and runs from page 109 to 234. Nice intro.

Funny, but the book also mentions “Vector Lathe”, the Zaxwerks plug in that has since been discontinued.

Those printed manuals are a real jem, one for animator and one for modeler with cover artwork by Paul.S, they’re sooo nice to own

Pitty they didn’t continue producing these…

I just hope they work for Tesla , or perhaps some video and written tutorials with Tesla will be nice. As Paul mentioned when EIM came out it was to advanced and yes it was i could use some subd but the NURBS couldnt get those babies right.
WIth the video tutorials you can follow along and than go back to read some reference about which tool does what.

“Regarding Tesla, a dongle free public beta would be nice, to show a broad audience what we can expect.”

Don’t know about the beta, but rumor has it that Tesla will not have a dingle. Yeah! I’ve never agreed with dongles. I completely understand why people think they are good, but in the end I don’t think they end up serving the purpose that was intended.

i agree with ediris, but i think that our community for tesla here or in another forum will have to be very participative and contributing.

This form all to learn more and very quikly …

for me i think to post all learn it and i hope that same of forum…

bye !

I really hope it is an open beta for Tesla…one of the problems with EIM was that it was beta tested by users who knew how to use it so some of the problem areas already had work-around solutions figured out and part of the user’s routine.

It will be very benifitial for EI to send Tesla out to users who had trouble with EIM initially, so that they can moan and groan when user issues come up and eventually have all of the quirks resolved.

EIM could have been a stellar modeler (it wasn’t too shabby even with all it’s quirks) and really set EI up very well for the future but unfortunately it had many user issues and never gained the acceptance it might have had. I am hoping in this round some of those mistakes are avoided.

So Tesla should be open to all during the beta. I will only gain more exposure this way and hopefully will become very user friendly in the process.

…is Tesla to debut in early June?

#25

No i dont think so i think Teasla is coming next year

#26

…and this would be based on?

#27

We dont want to start get desperate here, that is why i said next year.
They advised that it was coimg on April and now is June and so and so.
Pushing the developersa is not gonna help.Let them make a solid product, the future depends on them, with such a small group of artistsa using EIAS they have to make a solid modeler to be back in business.

I just see it significantly different… EITG is keeping customers updated… as sent on May 6th:

“Development of Tesla continues at a good pace, unfortunately we are slightly behind schedule. We expect a beta version in early June. Stay tuned to the EITG website for more information about our revolutionary new 3D software application.”
