Oh no not symmetry again!

#1

Oh crap! Changed some geometry in symmetry mode in 301. Got rid of an ngon and my whole arm fell out of sync on one side. This wouldnt be such a pisser except the teeth of the model are connected to the mesh and its a pain seperating them to recopy half the model every time symm fails.

Did a search and it looks like noone except me has a problem with the new version (symm wise). I assume I am doing something wrong.

Erasing the offending limb and mirror copying it wont merge verts (even when this is engaged. It does fix symm though. Also growing the selection out to where symm works / mirror copy still does strange stuff even when the verts are joined manually. When smoothing you get errors like when there are extra edges or double polys, although pushing and pulling I cant find them.

Any tips appreciated.

Have you tried Geometry | Symmetry Tool -

Click and drag in the viewport and it should reduce the highlighted vertices once they have been made symmetrical again.

Worth a try anyway.

Ha! Saved the offending file before doing a copy duplicate. Activated the symm tool, drag a little click, drag a little click, all of a sudden wham the arm jumped and symm restored:scream:.

This is going to save hours of silent screaming at the monitor! I think I whacked the model out of symm by not dropping the move tool before clicking in the viewport while I was doing uv’s.

Thanx Phil you saved my butt.
