I am new to the program and any information so i was just hoping to gather some info. i recently tried to email for an evaluation copy, but haven’t recieved an response. Yeah, it’s speculated that the new version will come soon. BTW, Wings is not made by the same people as Mirai. It is just heavily inspired by Nendo and Mirai.

I’d love to see Mirai make a come back.

It seems like a lot of the great ideas that were in the initial release of Mirai have found their way into other high $$$ applications in recent times. Almost like other apps are cashing in on Mirai inspired ideas while Mirai misses out.

1.5 was suppose to be out this summer, but nothing yet. No word on what features to expect, other than a connection to Maya to export displacement(blendshape) and bone w/ displacement animation.

peter: agreed - a few mirai ideas tend to pop up in one package or another - mainly because some talented guy writes a plugin or script that does it.
but in general i’d say mirai’s coolest features are still unmatched and no other app (pure modelers like wings aside) has a comparable workflow - which really makes one wonder how other 3d package manufacturers determine which functionality makes sense to implement and which doesn’t.

i’ve read rumours that the few guys who made up the core dev team of mirai are pretty busy working with weta digital on the lotr-series at the moment. so hopefully there will be a new release when they are finished with the movie trilogy.
with the amount of rumours floating around, it’s really hard to judge if that’s true at all…

but at least there’s a possibility that a new release of mirai would not be a huge financial success at all unless some potent investor pushes it. the competition is strong and many companies tend to not choose the best but the most common software.
plus, many former customers seem to have left behind mirai - not sure if those would want to invest again in a product that once dissapeared.

I’ve never had the opportunity to use Mirai but I love Wings. Everyone says Mirai is way better. I think if their modeller is that powerful and your creations are easily ported to and from other apps people will want to use it. They could sell it at a price that the artist can afford. Then it’ll be a tool that the artist takes with him where ever he goes (kinda like my pants)!

Its seems kinda like a waste to leave Mirai to die…especially since so many want to ressurect it. My 2¢.
