obj import script for blender

#1

A while back, there was a thread where some one was wanting information about the differences with Blender and Wings3D. During the disscusion that came about, someone posted a python script for importing obj files into blender. It seems that that thread has become the victim of system pruning. Could someone please repost that script? I am wanting to give blender another try and I think the script would come in handy.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

am i the only one who gets the message"python script goes here somehow" in the script options menu?

No, you’re just a victim of an open source app that’s moving incredibly fast. I could explain the history of that message but you can find it yourself by browsing the ‘Python and Plugins’ forum on Elysiun.

Just take the text of the ‘obj I-O’ script and load it into the text window in blender. With your mouse cursor in that text window hit Alt-P and a GUI will appear if it works on your system. If it doesn’t look in the console window behind blender for an error message. If you do get an error message it’s most likely to be because you don’t have Python 2.2.3 installed (2.3.x won’t work) or your python path can’t be read.

Blender questions actually have their own forum here… link at the top of this forum.

fligh, it seems that you also are a victim of a program that is evolving too fast

There are better ways to run scripts inside blender now, specially THAT script

I make my replies after judging (for myself) the familiarity with the app that the person asking the question displays and the amount of time I’m prepared to spend on an answer, without having to come back to run an education session. I’ll also concede that I had things more interesting to do than look for the thread you posted.
