OBJ export and normals

#1

I’ve just started using Wings and I’m very excited - unlike some other packages I can actually model stuff and do UV mapping and export to OBJ format. Woot.

My problem is that the normals exported from Wings are causing me pain.

If I create a simple cube, Wings appears to have a single normal per vertex. This means the cube doesn’t have flat faces.

I’ve looked through the user interface and the manual but I can’t see how to ask Wings to treat the faces as flat.

select the edges you want to make hard, right click and choose Hardess>hard.

Alternatively if you want all edges hard on a cube for instance, press B for body mode, click the cube, press E for edge mode, so all edges are selected, then right click hardness > hard.

I bind a quick hotkey H for set to hard and alt+h to set to soft.

Thankyou! I could’ve sworn I tried that, but I guess I didn’t get it right. Your instructions worked perfectly!
