O2 Refresh advert. How is it done?

I am wondering how it is done?

I wan to try and make something like these 2 simulation but having trouble figurine out how it is done so smoothly and controlled.

How can you control the fluid/particle in such specific ways?
I tried finding a tutorial of similar project but no luck. I don’t even know what to type in the search engine.

I would appreciate any info, help, link to tutorials or to similar projects related to this kind of simulation.

There are many animation techniques involved in this video, and they can all be done in maya - but not easily : )

I can share some tips about certain techniques…

  1. to have an object deforming and look smooth and metallic it’s pretty easy! You can shade a sphere / box / poly with a metal shader and then animate the vertices while rendering a smooth object (press 3 with the object selected). There are some tools in maya that can select vertices randomly (“select using constraints”) or apply a noise modifier on your object that will do the job. Look on creativecrash for deformer, perlin noise, etc. There is a deformer that comes with MASH too. ; )

  2. If you shade nparticles with your metal shader, the particles will look like a big blob / mesh, so your animation with particles will look like in your video (the liquid effects…)

  3. If you apply the same metal shader on nparticles and your geometry, they will look like one object in the render, so you can play with this effect.

  4. I am sure there was some comp in the video, so you can start one sequence with the last form of the previous sequence (match cameras) and so it look continuous while you add a new effect.

Try with particles / fluids “goals”. They play well with forces too : )
