NEW YORK (AP) A federal jury has sided with a group of New York graffiti artists who sued over the destruction of their work.A judge will now decide whether the artists must be compensated for the loss of their whitewashed murals. The jurys advisory ruling came Tuesday in the lawsuit over a site in Queens known as 5Pointz.Owner Jerry Wolkoff allowed the spray-paint artists to use his buildings for decades but said they always knew the buildings would be torn down someday. https://wtop.com/national/2017/11/jury-backs-graffiti-artists-who-sued-over-destroyed-work/

Having read the article, I don’t have much sympathy for the artists. The building owner was good enough to tell them cover his building with their artwork, effectively promoting the artists talents for free. They got a free ride for years and should be more grateful, instead of being opportunists out to sue and profit from the property owners kindness.

What a load of crap. I’m sure the defense will appeal if necessary and drag this out for eternity if needed. Maybe the the building owner might actually win this case in appeal and then hold the artists liable for his legal defense! That seems to be a new and needed trend lately.
