Update (didnt got time untill now)… Hope you like the new features!

All the model is currently unsmooth to make slight corrections on curvatures:

Hi Mauricio, your models looks great so far. It’s coming along. I would just be careful around the wings and body intersection area. Otherwise it’s on the right track i guess. You might wanna polish some of the edges and curves ( specially the Glass dome/Wings/propeller ) more smoothly so that it looks more heavy. Keep it up!

btw, are you planning to texture/Look dev. this model in later stage?

Cheers !

#4

Thanks koushikrouth ! yeah, the intersection is what im working on (will add flaps and controll surfaces later). Also the the propeller and dome is still giving me trouble but will work on it

I really want to texture it, but im not too good at it though ill give it a go once its finished. Way more easy to paint it than the other tank i got.

Thanks again and ill post again at later night (5pm here) !

Cheers !

As said by koushikrouth, ive redone the piece that connects the wings with the body. Worked on the Propeller and also the canopy. Also moved the wheels to the correct position and gave the wing more shape. Still missing the Flaps, interior of the undercarriage and still need to rework the front window and the panel right infront of it.

Looking so far, take a look and as always thanks for any comments and critique. Im a student so any tips are greatly appriciated!

Hi Mauricio,
Glad to see your updates. You are doing great so far. I will help you to push further. I have attached few mark-ups and close reference images i found on the net for your reference. I would suggest just try to follow/mimic the modeling details as much as you can closely. I’m pretty good at Surfacing/Shader/Lighting so i can help you along the way.No problem !

Once you are done with the bigger details and proportion. Go ahead and add the smaller details…More you add smaller finer details and elements on the main model more it will turn out realistic. Make sure you don’t end up modeling each bolts because a lot of finer details can be achieved through bump or displacement maping. So plan it ahead before going for detailing.

Hope that helps.

Cheers ! :keenly:

Thanks again! I see, thanks for calling those details, I didn’t notice them. Ill improve and correct them. Yeah, i won’t model each bolt. Update coming later night again  .

Cheers! :keenly:

I didn’t fix all of the issues. But well working on it and pushing points along. I also decided to make the wings connect on the bottom as the real plane does (reference image below). Also sharing some wireframes.

Hi again, im back with a better plane  Added flaps and controll surfaces on the wings, corrected curvature where the body meets the wings. Double-cheked it. Also enhaced the cockpit area, meshed together the frame on the front window of the cockpit and smoothed it out. Also finished the tips of the wings and added the antenna (or the thing on the lower end of the hull.

Hope you like it and will update tomorrow

Hey guys i’ve been busy with school projects and would like to ask your opinion. Sould I leave it like it is? or change/add something? also im not sure if ill do the interior. But given the texturing and rendering… I think ill need it.

Any comments will be valuable, remember im still a student and in 1 year im graduating i want to have a decent level when i come out.

Thanks ! Cheers !

Hi Mauricio, your model is looking better and improved. Keep pushing yourself.

The answer to your question is ā€œPracticeā€.

Remember the The 10,000 Hour Rule :
The principle holds that 10,000 hours of ā€œdeliberate practiceā€ are needed to become world-class in any field.

Cheers !

Thanks ! ill try to get a good advance on the model tomorrow went off for the weekend. Sorry for late reply. Will update tomorrow and yeah im at 2,000 mark ill guess. But im eager to keep the practice, also downloaded mudbox and will give it a try for the texturing.

Cheers !

Hi guys, finally an update with proper renders ! I’ve finished up the model exterior by mirroring all the mesh and getting rid of seams. Also double checked the main curvature of the model to the scale.

I’ve learned a bit on Mental Ray (Maya 2015) mia_material_x to start to do some recent renders. You will notice I used Image based Lighting for the reflections for now ill use it as the plane is flying. Because the landing gear isn’t coming up well and I can model it a part.

Hope you like the work i’ve done and also posting a reference for the upcoming texturing !
