Nissan 350 Z Drifting Animation

#1

Hi everyone,

I thought I’d share my newest animation of a Drifting Nissan 350 Z. I don’t want to give anything away but check it out. There’s more than meets the eye.

Edit: Alright, I’m totally giving away the suprise now.
In celebration of the new movie coming out in a few weeks, I wanted to share my newest Transformer, Trans Z. Enjoy.

Drifting Nissan 350 Z
(it’s about 6.5 Megs)

Watch it on YouTube

Be sure to check out my website at http://themichaelsmith.com for more info and a link to a webpage I created for this animation.

Edit: Some more pictures…

Critiques welcome
Thanks for viewing!

Oh man. I HIGHLY approve! Any chance of seeing a higher quality version of this? I hope this gets frontpaged. Sweet.

I love the webpage, too! I’m excited to see what else you’ve done!

Notably, the “Live Action Animatic” is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen.

Looks really nice! The animation is smooth too.
The only thing that bothers me is that after the transformation it looks like he looses balance because of the speed. Looks a bit clumsy.
It’s a cool car and a cool robot and I would expect that it moves cool as well.
Other than that it’s an awesome shot!

Wow! You just blew me away!

mayazeus: Thanks!

Flashawy: Thanks. Shhhhh…don’t give it away

Mrdodobird: Glad I met your approval. Oh man, a frontpage plug would be amazing, guess we’ll wait and see. Guess we’ll both have to keep our fingers crossed. Thanks for checking out the webpage too. Yeah the “Live Action Animatic” still makes me laugh too, just wish I could’ve been IN it as well.

Goro: Thanks. I’ll have to work on my “smoothness” a bit, I actually thought it was pretty smooth, but it is off balance a bit just after the transformation. Part of the reason it’s off balance was that I had changed the animation from two spins to one and had to keep as much of what I had before the change.

mookiemu: LOL, that’s what I was hoping to do. :bounce:

Wow, that was sick!
Awesome work, 5 big shining stars

#9

ohhh maannn that fantastic.

looks great! well done, only crit is that the compositing at the end is a little rough, and the wheels spins a little funny after he finishes transforming.

5 stars - why are you not working on the new movie nudges dreamworks… i do like the new style of transformers but i am a big fan of the classic style you have in ur transformation.

Great work

frameless: Sweet! 5 stars…you made my day!:scream:

akin: Thanks. Glad you liked it.

copperunionstud: Yeah, I guess Joe used a bunch of layers when he composited it all together and it was difficult to make sure everything lined up exactly. As for the wheels, not sure what you mean, during the slow motion take?

evilwabbit: 5 stars…YAY! I would’ve done anything to work on the Transformers movie. But it’s ILM, they have some of the best artists in the world…oh well, maybe the sequel ;). I’m a fan of the classic design too…obviously.

SuperXCM: Thanks. I hope you mean crazy in a good way.

Thanks for the stahs (are you from Maine too?). If you weren’t giving 5 stars you could forget and I wouldn’t mind  . I’ll try to find some time to post some more “making of” stuff on my website.

Yeah, the background was literally me getting up from my computer, walking outside about 25 feet…and that was it. I was going to add some background cars or something, but I burned out.

Just received some test renders from Joe, so I figured I’d post those as well…Here they are:

The gray one is from before he changed the car’s color.
