nhmChallenge SoniaNotRed

Hi, all!

I’m not really sure what I’m going to do with this, but what the hell…
I’m only halfway with the cleaning - it’s taking me longer than I expected. Getting rusty, I guess…:stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck, everyone!

#2

Hi, Welcome and good luck, ans yes this is not an easy challenge but that’s good ! you will learn lots of things I’m sure, and of course you will enjoy it, have fun

#3

Hey Sonia, still with us?

 • Dave.

#4

Hi, guys.
Yep, I’m still in the race but I’ve been kind of busy and haven’t made much progress.
I’ll see if I can finish the first stage later on today.

See ya!

#5

A wee bit more of chaos… :stuck_out_tongue:
Don’t mind the floor in general, I still have to work out the details.

#6

…Finished at last! Muahahahah!!!

Not quite perfect but it will have to do. I hope I didn’t miss anything.
Now, to figure out a way to ruin all the hard work…

#7

looking nice

#8

Aaaaarrrggghhh!!!
Stupid connection! I’ve been trying to post for an hour! :banghead:

Inlakechh - Hi! Thanks!

This is more or less what have in mind.
The sea version is much simpler and probably not all that interesting.
The second version was to be a forest but turned out more like a wild garden or something. I didn’t get to put all the elements in it, but I can still have several kinds of diferent trees and bushes with flowers. I thought the fog was quite fitting, considering it’s London…
I still want to try a jungle/rainforest version with tropical and exotic trees, roots and different plants crawling all over the place.
Finally, I’m thinking the architecture needs some 3d work but I’m not sure I can pull it off… A lot more testing to come it seems…

Hmmm… I notice I missed a couple of details on Stage 1. Have to fix that, too…

Enjoy!

#9

Both concepts are nice  I love the lily pond. The sea one isn’t boring, you could always have a big tentacle reaching out and destroying part of the building ha ha

#10

I like the pond concept too…but u gotta add some dept to it …its looking too flat. Also u have potential to make it very pretty  So looking fwd to ur update.

#11

i think both are headed a nice way. however, they’re both missing something. really calm and all, which is good, but do more with the plate otherwise it might get a bit boring.

#12

Ivy00 - LOL!
At one point I was considering putting sheep on one of the plates, but we can’t have things that are expected to move, it seems… Still, I do have a dead seagull somewhere… :stuck_out_tongue:

ferraosnehal - Yeah, you’re right about the pond, but at this stage you can even see edges in it! It’s one of the tricky things to handle in this concept - this pic of the water doesn’t work so bad in cloudy weather light, but if I decide to have sun I might have to resort to something else, play with all the reflections and transparency.
I’ll try to have a new update this weekend. Stay tunned!

proconpictures - Oh! Got to check some mattes then, see what I can do. I do a lot of landscape photograph so I guess it shows when I do cg.

Thanks for the tips, guys!

#13

lol I guess a dead seagull would work.

#14

The broken chunk to the left is a really nice idea. It has a lot of scope with the reflections and shadows on this one. Fantastic!

#15

Ivy00 - Hehehe! All this talk is giving me an idea… Not today, but who knows…

MarkyG - Thanks. I only hope it will work in the refined version… :stuck_out_tongue:

OoooK…
As promised, here are a couple more concept pics.
The first is (almost) the forest version I had in mind. I’m really not inspired today so it turned out a bit crappy…
The second is my attempt at a more original and unexpected looking enviroment. It was supposed to be about mutated flora but it turned out so alien I don’t think it will look convincing even when it’s refined… Oh, well…

Next step is the “offical” building extension - in 3d (I hope) - but since I’m too sick of looking at the thing right now, that will have to wait.

See ya!

#16

Back at last!
Unfortunately, since my life has taken (yet another) turn for the worse I didn’t get to do the 3d extension I wanted… :banghead:
Anyway, here’s the basic 2d extension.
Lets see if I can post some more before tomorrow. crosses fingers

#17

nice perspective correction but I think u’ll have to take care of thos pillars on the right: the distance between them should be bigger as they are close to the camera, not the other way around. keep it up.

#18

bechira - Aarrgghh! Yeah, you’re right. At one point I was going to fix that but I end up forgeting. Thanks for the tip.
The good news is - since those arches are coming down I won’t need to much fixing on the stage I’m working on now… :stuck_out_tongue:
Still under construction… destruction… whatever…

More tomorrow.

#19
