Thanks the support! I will update the image tomorrow (i hope).

About the composition: When i croped the image i did not use the rule of the thirdes. It was not scienter. I just made this lines for observe what i did.

One of the strongest concepts so far, I think. I’m not entirely sure that the NHM could last long enough for the ground to erode that far away but it’s just visually very interesting. You’re probably right about it being closer to an illustration than a Matte Painting, but it’s still very awesome. Great job!

Its looking amazing!
I’m not sure i like the crack in the steps. I like the idea but it doesn’t look as good as the rest. probably you’re still working on it

A little update. I think i can not work on it more. Tomorrow i will post the final iamge.

Looking great my friend!!

A couple of things you might want to look at before final submission:

  • The archway on the far right, the light should probably come more through that arch because its making the sun look as though it is much too close at the mo.

  • Maybe soften the long shadows from the stair banister as they move towards camera?

I must say, I love that addition of the extra pillar half buried in the snow. Really sells the idea that parts of it have fallen down over time. Some of the other mattes do tend to beg the question ‘where have all those broken parts gone?’, so ts good to see you have addressed it!

Good luck mate!

Thank you for creating such an amazing image! I’ve enjoyed watching the progress and I’ve learned a few things along the way. Best of luck!

Thanks everyone the feedbacks!

Now it is time to post the final image (i do not say it is a matte painting, it is much less…):

It was a good practise and had a lot of fun.

link for high resolution version (you can see the brush strokes, and it is no good on a matte painting):
