great image here, I like a lot those long shadows coming from the back sun, I also think you’re getting some nice detail on rocks and snow, nice one !

Looking good. I think the building should be a little more silhouetted with the light source behind it.
Thanks. The deadline is coming. I hope i can do my best.
what do you think to crop the image? The black transpareny blocks show what ia wnat to crop.
This is looking really awesome, loved the concept from the start and the more you progress on it the more I like it. I am not experienced matte painter so I really can’t give you any advice on the crop, but wanted to tell you how much I like your image so far.
Wow, I love this image so far. I think the crop would work well to give it more of a cinematic feel without losing any impact. Overall, I love the mood and lighting and the way you’ve broken up the ground. Great idea placing it on a jagged plateau - it gives it a “lost temple” feel, and gives the whole scene a sense of wide-open grandeur.
thanks. I appreciate your comments.
My average time with a picture is 3 hours. I more like creating speed paintings.
But now it is good practise!
Here is a next step. Still not photo realistic. It is not a matte painting, just an illustration.

It’s looking great man. Considering how much you painted, it’s close to reality.
Have a look at distance haze, as the mountains shadows are darker than the churches shadows at the moment. Should be the other way round.
Oh! I love waht you did with the ground!
And the colors are very well chosen - it just looks cold in there!
Thanks.
A little update (clouds painting and play with leveles.)
the original dimensions are 3400x2200 px.

Now i do not know what ill be next…:S
kb, man, this looks awesome.shiny, icy ground, sunset, just great…shadows on the mountains could be more darker and you can add a glow where sun shows up.cheers
And here is composition guide lines. The arrows show how move your eyes to the focus point (the sun)

cgoz: maybe yes. but the mountain snow shadow need to be darker or the building snow shadow? i think the mountain shaodow brighter because the athmospheric depth. Hm. i need to think it.
looking greeeaaat! maybe try to add some translucency and sparkle for the snow in the light; the sun rays “eating” more from the structure of the building and also some more bright highlights on the structure.
This is really nice, great atmosphere and composition, just a shame the snow is not completely realistic. Very nice painting though
Mr Kbarts I like this image, thank you for putting your composition guides in, i have learnt something. I love the low lying sun reminds me of Stonehenge and the solstice.

Thanks the support! I will update the image tomorrow (i hope).
About the composition: When i croped the image i did not use the rule of the thirdes. It was not scienter. I just made this lines for observe what i did.
One of the strongest concepts so far, I think. I’m not entirely sure that the NHM could last long enough for the ground to erode that far away but it’s just visually very interesting. You’re probably right about it being closer to an illustration than a Matte Painting, but it’s still very awesome. Great job!
Its looking amazing!
I’m not sure i like the crack in the steps. I like the idea but it doesn’t look as good as the rest. probably you’re still working on it
A little update. I think i can not work on it more. Tomorrow i will post the final iamge.
