NewTek LW Group Announced ChronoSculpt

#4

Looks great, but how does it compare to Shape Keys in Blender 2.6?

My workflow (mobile games) usually stays well below 1M poly, and I export in lowres so I can get by with less-than-perfect animation, but it would help to know more about the differences in order to make a decision (…before the pre-sale ends, of course  )

#5

in some respects similar to lbrush for maya , but this looks more generalized for vfx too. interesting

#6

That looks … really useful. I can see a lot of studios picking up one or two seats of it.

#7

The “New” Color Picker is the “old” Jovian Color Picker. . . but it is sweet, and they should have shown off the tons of nice Libraries for it an the Pan colors.

The Jovian Color Picker (Standalone), even ties in normally with Photoshop, and most System Color Pickers, and as such, even works in MSPaint.

#8

the new color picker is in lw11.6 , chrono sculpt is.another product. im not seeing using myself but for guy who are making simulation abd correct error.on the fly it can be very useful. the mdd cache seem to be very fast too. i saw the CSculpt live presentation this morning and the guy was playing with a hipoly head and a 1 gb mdd. all was loaded in a second and in realtime playback. performance seem to be there

#9

Yeah sure, like speed edit.

#10

the good thing is it works with several apps like Maya , modo etc since it imports/exports into several formats. it is not a tool only for LW. So, it is not a bad idea and can be great in production especially for smaller studios.

#11

very cool thx for sharing, i find the UI extremely elegant with those dark-grey/blue tone … they should pick this UI color for LW …

EDIT : … but that’s a shame Newtek is not developing for Linux.

#12

you can see the recorded videos of presentations here http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/36262603 among them there’s also presentation of chronosculpt by Rob Powers and Lino Grandi

#13

Rob mentioned that a Linux version of ChronoSculpt is on their todo-list.

#14

Yea they need to release it for Linux asap since that’s what most of the target market for this product is using.

#15

I haven’t used Jovian in ages but fired up 11.6 last night and boy is that quite a difference. Love the new color picker.

Trying to get the hang of the CGfx GL shaders but that interface is very pre-release. But once its set up it looks very good.
