NewTek CORE discussion and information

#661

Agreed, no one likes subscription services. Fortunately NewTek doesn’t like them either, nor do they mandate one on you like AD (I wasn’t sure if you knew that or not, since you didn’t seem to have any information in your post). They’ve also got a better upgrade policy than Maxon, Autodesk, and pretty much any other software company out there.

#662

And yet Maya, Max, XSI, Fusion, Nuke, etc… all have an ongoing user base. And they’ve been “doing” subscriptions for quite some time. I don’t hear them moving to “other software” en mass. Of course if these companies REALLY “stopped” developing their software and added only one new feature per subsription release… then you probably WOULD have people searching for other software in great numbers. But we all know that Newtek is better than this. Don’t we?

Which is what I said.

Bryan,

Even I, an old NT naysayer, am getting tired of your posts. Stop with the whinging, because its old, old like it was a few years ago here on CGtalk…everyone understands your pain and need to voice your opinion, but youre starting to take the Christian Bale route  trust me, it will only bite you in the arse, so move on!

As worried as I am something will go wrong from NTs track record, this is something new and exciting that shows they are hopefully changing that record.

Yes the reveal was a left down in presentation and amount shown, but weve all gotten that out of our system and are waiting for new update videos.

Yes lets face it, its going to take quite a few years for them to get CORE FULLY rocking like the big 3, but who cares, they are doing it, and hopefully by next year there will be some really cool features, and maybe some innovations that will be ready for production. God I’m praying to see some really COOL fx engine!

On that note, please Jay, get your act in gear and show some other really cool features QUICK, like this week, and next few months so people can see how cool CORE really is.

We all know if NT doesnt show off some cool stuff in the next few months, that then maybe its time to think NT is up to their old tricks, but lets wait.

The effort shown to even make CORE and climb out of their “90’s” is a great step!
Im really hoping they succeed, what a great story that would make!

Plus I miss HyperVoxels damnit…

#664

Just started posting on cg talk last week… so not quite sure what your talking about?

What really makes me laugh more then anything… Is the fact that you complained about my posts. Then preceded to say the same exact thing!

So I am not sure what your getting at… Or you were just trying to somehow single me out. Either way… Your opinion matters as much to me as mine does to you… none!

#665

Yes Bryan, but Im not going to go on and on like you are.

In reference to the past few years here at CGTalk, since youre new, perhaps you should listen to the veterans, such as myself, who were in your shoes years ago, who are telling you this isnt the place to continually bitch about NT.

I suggest you read these forums from when LW 8 was released and the following years, to get the jist.

If you really must, then start your own thread and see if anyone replies.

#666

It’s not what you say; it’s saying it over and over and over that reflects poorly on you. There’s a big difference brtween saying your piece and derailing an entire thread by forcing your opinions down all of our throats.

Like Howard said, move on.

#667

Meehh I’m decidedly positive on Core (I’ve already commited to it - $). That doesn’t mean some people don’t have (years) of valid gripes/complaints to hold NTs toes to the fire. Some could argue there’s no growth in blind faith aiding complacency. That there’s is everything to gain from earning ex user respect.

I look forward to the day that CGTalks (CGSociety) Lightwave Forum are less a depot of LW license + plugin sales and return to a flourish of positive activity the LW community is known for. One can dream … tweet cough tweet

#668

This is my feelings exactly. I’ve been a long time LW user, and haven’t been this excited for a release. They’ve done a lot of work to get the attention of a lot of people, let’s see more! Strike wile the iron is hot JAY!!!

#669

You may have a point.
But I also try to be constructive, and give good feature requests, and not all of what I have said is doom and gloom. I just have many unanswered questions about core…

And I do remember many many rants coming from your end!

and yes, NT please show something while you still have peoples attention!

#670

I said, ‘even I, an old Naysayer’, but that was many years ago. Of course Ill still chime in once in a blue moon, but dont continue on and on too negatively anymore. No time for it and no one wants to hear it.

Your past 45+ posts on cgtalk is in this thread and is a gripe, and not one fresh thread providing anything positive or helpful.
Why not join the community with some helping hands and reply to some of the 100s of other threads, like most people do?

To be honest though, Ive wasted enough time and dont really care what you do here or even how long it takes NT to get where we all hope they will get. I havent used LW professionally for almost 4 years now, but I can still hope and see them redeem themselves after all these years…and maybe one day work with LW again!

#671

I see…
Your one of those guys that are too cool for LW, but feel they can tell other people how they should act and post in regards to LW.

Cool…

and as for helping other people… That just shows how little you know about me!

Ps
I know you think no one cares what I have to say, well how many people do you think care when the last time you used LW professionally was?
You are transparent!

#672

hahah this is my last post to you Bry, you silly man…
yes, youre absolutely right, im a transparent troll who has never contributed to this community… not one bit… and no one cares what I have to say… lol maybe you should again do your homework.

I never said no one wants to hear what you have to say, I just said stop hijacking a thread by bitching about LW or people telling you to take it somewhere else…

anyway, im not going to be sucked into your void any further…

so Jay, lets see some really cool FX engine demos soon!

#673

Hey how about if we act civilized…

How about if we keep the tone of thread positive.

Thanks guys,
-R

#674

I think we’re all suffering from acute amarketosis (don’t quote me on the latin) :curious:

I get that Core is a completely new code base - I just want to know how far along we are!

HowardM, would be cool if Core had particles that brought you back on board :wavey:

#675

ditto that! (btw Howard, quick question, it looks to me the dynamic wind effects in Maya doesn’t have advanced functions like e.g. LW animation path?)

request for NT, a thing i’d like to see in the upcomming videos is the OpenGL performance,
as it is based on a new code, i assume it should be quite a lot faster?
.

#676

In respect of the moderators here…this post has been edited.

#677

Yes Core looks pretty nice. Looks like Newtek is doing pretty much what they said they had planned. Bring on Joe Alter’s Shave and a Haircut!!

#678

you are posting stuff from years ago. All money involved was payed back from my end.
Not to mention the stuff for sale was not mine nor was it being sold by me on ebay!
Please check ebay for any bad feed back for Bryan Phillips.

I cant believe that you guys even have the balls to post that in this thread.
What does that have do do with core?
If you want to start a new thread about it, that would at least show some respect!
I would be more then happy to talk to yous about it further. If thats what yous want?

#679

Crime aside, I saw both BeeVee and Jay Roth were having a gander at this thread. I hope they caught on to the PLEASE MORE CORE INFO theme :bounce:

Seriously, I think a lot of people are starting to get quite impatient.

Newtek, divert more power from the shields to the marketing engine!

#680

Yeah man!
I hope they just go ahead and create some videoes of soemthing we haven’t seen in any app or at least …a process or pipeline that wholly unique in the new Lightwave Core application.
