Maybe it only exist in “Messiah Studio Professional”???
Can someone else confirm the crash?
/ Svante
Edit: Oh, I can see you are a studio pro user… hmm…

Yep.
I don’t know if It will help you but here is my conf :
Windows XP Pro 2nd ED - last updated from Micro$oft
Dual Xeon 3.0 Ghz - 4 Go Ram
QUADRO Nvidia Fx 3000 - Drivers 91.47
Phil
The most important step to reproduce this crash is to first open the “Selection List History gadget” and look at the empty list .
-> Click on the “Selection List History gadget” (it should be empty)
/ Svante
Like I told you before I did not have any pb with it.
Sorry but I don’t have this bug here Messiah don’t want to crash …
I get extremely slow rendering times when having a spotlight projecting an image sequence. But when I uncheck the ImageSequence button(in ImageManager), it renders as fast as normal!?
/ Svante
EDIT
1 - Launch doc from the file menu doesn’t work.
2 - View Function List from the Command menu doesn’t work
Phil
You must be kidding, they both works for me!! Have you put the .chm file in the: “messiahStudio2.5\messiah\docs\pmG” folder??
/ Svante
not at all … I have changed the environment variable and put the doc file like other messiah upgrade version.
Still can’t open the doc …
Phil
Ok, I haven’t setup an environmet variable, so that’s maybe why some things works for you but not for me and vice versa.
(I have now found one more crash bug… but I will wait to report it until some one can confirm my last reported crash bug…)
/ Svante
There is some strange axis (P/H/B) movement onto the edit sphere but it is far better than before.
Phil
EDIT : For me Camera movement is easier now
I found yet another crash bug, this one is fast and easy to test:
From the Command line, try to write in " I’m " or a quote sign three times like " “”" ".
This little action makes Messiah crash for me, can any one confirm or deny this??
(Other stange combinations also makes Messiah crash)
Yes I can confirm Thomas issues.
And by the way, it is simply just an ordinary “3D-standard” manipulator we need to appeal new users. A standard manipulator with Red, Green and Blue colors, as in other modern 3D-apps, with rotations in X,Y,Z, instead of H,P,B, wich is only confusing for a new user, who comes from any other app than LW.
/ Svante
yep. but when you are in camera view, the manipulator should be in-line with a camera control with camera terminology. having to restrict your camera in LOCAL x axis and have the camera move along the WORLD x axis is just not a good thing! Currently manipulating has gotten alot easier with this update but its still not there yet. I have to say though, this update has really made me appreciate how much pmg listens to the users, i remember writing huge posts about the autocomplete item selection ideas and its amazing to see this functionality working and even better then I imagined. The command history is brilliant! Im browsing through my current complex rig and its great to be able to just type in the item i want :), browsing through the huge list of scripts has never been easier! i love it.
im working on a nice rig for fun right now, hunting for bugs, i havent really encountered any crashes yet…
has anyone tried making an autorigger based on reference objects? Is this something that is feasible given the current scripts? I would love to set something up like this in messiah for learning sake…
Yes, a simple and working manipulator like the one in XSI would do for me…
On the other hand: leave everything as it is as far as I am concerned.
Since I am no active user anymore, just ignore me.
It is cool that other people like this update.
I don’t.
For me it just shows how badly the programmers need to be replaced.
Carpe Diem.
Ouch. For someone that sells plugins for this software. I would think they’d take their effort and time more seriously. Saying such harsh things about a company in which you have a commercial interest seems to lack business sense.
yep a manipulator like modo will be great
If I had to choose a set of manipulators. I’d have to say I prefer how Hexagon’s manipulators are designed. One of the few things I like anymore about that program, now that I’m using Silo :-d
Ok, then it’s not only my computer, thanks!
And then I dare to report one more crash bug:
->Select the camera view
->From the Image Manager load an image from a sequence
->Click on Set As Background
->Check Activate Background Image
->Change the Background Image Scale Percent to something above 100
->Check Image Sequence, crash!
/ Svante
If I would have business sense, I wouldn’t write plugins for messiah in the first place.
I wrote my AoN:Studio plugins because the procedurals in messiah were so bad - back in the days when I still had hopes to be able to use messiah for my work.
I did the huge docs because those of messiah were so massively lacking when it came to rendering.
And the TLHPro tools are things missing from messiah that almost every other renderer has out of the box… (I actually wrote them a long time ago mostly, just didn’t release them for a year or more since I was so fed up with messiah, but then users were asking for them and I thought “what the heck”, no use letting them rot on my HD…).
When the communication was up and running for a time, earlier this year, I thought that there REALLY is a change this time, with Lyle gone and Taron taking over.
I no longer see any evidence of it.
Look at how they implemented the right mouseclick menu for shaders. Before you couldn’t reach some shaders if you had a lot of them installed (as I do) - now they are parted in sub-menues. But not by how many fit on your screen, but every 20 shaders. Now instead of maybe two, I get 4 or 5 menues with all my shaders installed, and each of them I have to access one after the other. :rolleyes: And isn’t it funny how the “more” buttons to do that happen to be behind the windows taskbar?
Instead of doing a good solution once, there is a bad one and after that several fixes until nobody mutters too loud anymore…
Doesn’t spare any development time, but is just bad style.
If they would work for me, I would fire them for sheers “shortsightedness” to say it politely.
There sure will be 2.5a b c d e correction patches and eventually the stuff may or may not work out in the end - other stuff may get broken in the process though, and if you want, you can cheer over how many updates you get for free…
AoN:Studio is still at Version 1.0
I had no single bug report as of yet (released in 2004)
This may be extreme and the shaders are way simpler than messiah, but you may get the drift…
And I not even call myself a programer.
Cheers,
