NEW Site - Character rigging and animation with IK Boost

#61

Having read through all the posts it looks like the root of the problem is that Larkin is making use of the existing tools sets (however flawed) and explaining it.
These are the tools available in LW8. Poorly documented with bad examples by NT in the past, this website with its video tutorials is better than what NT ever put forth.
I commend any LW user that takes the time and effort to utilize what comes bolted onto LW and makes some usable sense of it, let alone builds a web site devoted to it.

On the other hand I understand why people (with experience) knock the bolt on tools provided by NT. They are short time fixes for long term problems. I do keep in mind, these tools are better than nothing, but it’s understood that eventually the users needs will outgrow the tools capacity at a critical time. That would be the time the tool shows its true colors. (Add chorus of “I told you So”).

Ultimately the good outweighs the bad here. If people haven’t tried rigging and this site and videos give them a leg up in that direction, then why not. As long as it’s clear that in its current incarnation, the user might be better informed to try alternative means for more advanced CA solutions. Let the Newbies decide what is right and wrong for themselves.

Very well said… Considering that it’s in LW, it’s best that it’s understood.

However… I want Every pressure possible put on Newtek to realise that they really need to work much harder in this area… It’s the most appallingly deficient aspect of LW.

I think Jay Roth summed it up pretty well in his latest public announcement:

“We have a ton of work ahead for character animation, and everything related to that.”

Going to give this another (IKBOOST) a try in the nearby future.
Messiah makes it hard though.
