New Modo Info

oh… nifty. can’t wait for the rest.

Sorry, we’ve all had to sign NDA’s … in blood! But it was worth every drop! :bounce: :buttrock:

A new update?

Cool! What’s going to be in it? Or what “is” in it? O_o

#9

But wait, there’s more! Tuesday’s installment is now live for registered modo owners.

Quite nice, but I already discovered some things that could be improved in the bridge tool:

  • Rather than just using a auto calculated tangential curve, it should create an interactive spline to adjust (as in the patch tool)
  • There should be a way to define the midpoint when blending geometry with different density. This would help to cleate cleaner geometry and explicitly define where triangles are created.

Some people are never happy. So far these new features are much more than I expected.

#12

Oh no, please don’t take this as criticism. The bridge tool is much more sophisticated than in other programs. It’s just that I have been thinking about this particular tool quite a lot and had some ideas of my own. It’s more a feeling of that they stopped halfway thru and didn’t consequently consider all options. You see, for instance for organic modeling spline handles would be useful - you could bridge a long distance gap and interactively distort the resulting tube. Great for roots, nerves, blood vessels, fungae etc. Perhaps I should cross-post this as a feature request…

the bridge tool and bend tools look awesome far better than most such tools in lightwave and other apps

but what i want to know is if the bridge tool can do multiple bridges like this one for lightwave
http://www.polas.net/plugins/bridge.php

if it can it will be truely awesome (ok tahts abit of an overstatement but you know what i mean)

#14

All the secrecy seems odd. Do they not want to sell their product?

#15

They just like to make us folks who purchased already feel special.
:buttrock:
Which, is working

I feeel… sOoo special

Though I guess it would be nice to share the old news to the folks that havent purchased it yet.
Maybe they will do that next week

#16

Yes, it will all be made public fairly soon but, as a registered purchaser, it’s nice to have access privileges to new developments first. :applause:

Can’t wait to see what today’s instalment brings! Only 3.5 hours to go! :bounce:

It’s great to have all the secret handshakes for the “club” members, but to hide information from those of us taking a close look at this new piece of software seems very much like a stupid business decision.

Special content for registered users I could see, but information on basic upgrades to the core product??? wow.

#18

Is the difference of a week really going to effect your purchasing descision?

I thought I was impatient

#19

More cool stuff now online with the Wednesday update. Do these guys at Luxology ever sleep?

Graeme

#20

If I dont sleep neither should they

yep ive seen the future and it is good

#21

You are right, how can you stand not having new features for a product you haven’t even purchased?

#22

Why makes so many excitement about some new secret features here at CgTalk ? You talked about NDA’s…
Other companys are also working on new features…

#23

They could easily have said absolutely nothing until they were ready to make an official announcement.

That they throw a sneak peak to registered users first is hardly a reason for the vitriol in some of the posts or the whining or bitching about it.

It’s a teaser, a sneak peak.

It’s not something the fate of the world hangs on, and it hardly qualifies as a bad business decision.

#24

the bridge tool looks great–as do the other enhancements. I’m looking forward to the update.

soon, I hope!

#25

Vitriol? A bitterly abusive feeling or expression? Where did you see this?

...anyway Brad Peebler's commentin the Luxology forums answers my concersn quite well.
