New Laptop

#1

Hi everyone this is my first time posting, I just wanted to get some advice on what laptop to get. I am currently a 2nd year computer science student planning to focus on and specialize in computer graphics and animation. For my first year I an i5200 Acer Aspire but it is not adequate enough for the work I am planning to do. I would like some helpful advice to point in the right direction*

Obligatory laptop question response: Don’t buy a laptop. They’re terrible for computer graphics work in every possible way and they’re simply not fast enough. If you want to disregard that advice and blow tons of money on mediocre performance look at workstation class products like the ThinkPad P series, Dell Precision Mobile series, and HP EliteBook series. These machines have more memory slots, more processor cores, dedicated graphics options, more capable cooling systems, and other features you won’t find in gaming or consumer oriented products.
