Oh Yhloon…you’ve basically got up to 3 weeks to enter. As long as your thread is in the WIPs area by April 11th, you’re in.

And, if I may add, the best website on this subject (not at all biased to the great chap that owns it  http://www.paleofuture.com/

I check it every week, it’s usually just a good laugh.

Of course, there is also the Modern Mechanix blog as well: http://blog.modernmechanix.com/

This competition is ace, put your names down one and all!!
I’m very excited to see what people do,
Ian

So talk to me folks…is there interest in this competition? Speak out. I wanna see some threads showing up in the WIPs lab soon.

#14

I have interest and have done some quick concept sketches… just chock full of self doubt about finishing… I’ll decide by the end of this weekend.

I’m trying to come up with KISS Design (Keep It Simple Stupid) that I can model quickly
and then spend most of my time in EIAS.

Cheers,

Mike
…still floundering in eim/eias hobbyistville… … it’s all about priorities and time.

#15

Yes, I’m interested. I’m doing some real work right now that demands my attention, once that is finished I’ll be ready to participate. Should be next week sometime…

#16

Thanks guys. I hope you can participate. I’m really excited about this competition and would love to see what folks can do. Its all about learning and all about good fun.

#17

Yesss, i am doing any concept, tomorrow i post it…

see you friends…

#18

Yes, i am working in design, i post in few days… see you friends…

I’m going to try my best to enter this. Not because I need another iPod, but just for the fun of the challenge.

I have one detail question, which refers to:

“05. Compositing multiple layers without additional enhancements is permitted.”

Does that imply that if you do render out to layers, you can’t actually do much with them (enhance them) once in Photoshop?

#20

Brian will cement this, but as far as I’m aware, if you can do it in EI, then you can do it in Photoshop: Meaning no filters, but you can use layers, layer modes and masks etc.

Best,
Ian

#21

Yes… essentially what I mean is using 3rd party plugins in After Effects to achieve visuals you should be obtaining in EIAS.

I want as much of the image to be EIAS as possible.

#22

Ok, read the details, and I have, what I feel… is the winning entry… so far, I havent seen any reference like it, so I feel it will be unique…

anyway, some great reference here: http://conceptships.blogspot.com/

#23

uh oh, Cj just threw down the gauntlet! :surprised

#24

Fight! Fight! Fight!

#25

Well, I was concerned about the timeline, but I feel I can have a rough done in time, and a final by the deadline…

#26

CJ, if you actually take the 6000 hours you’ll need to re-make that thing just to win a contest, someone needs to come slap you upside the head.

Also, I’ll be offering you a job in a few weeks when one of our designers leaves.

#27

I think I needed to split my post into 2 posts…

  1. I am entering…

  2. Some reference (unrelated to what I am doing)

Thankyou for the clarification on the Photoshop Layers question folks.

So I casually walked into this thread only to be slapped around the head by a guantlet!

Alas I won’t be rising to the challenge - like I alluded to earlier, I’m a novice here who just wants to see if he can actually complete the challenge of designing, building and texturing a model in the timeframe. If I actually finish and learn some stuff along the way that’ll be music enough to my ears (What about that for a torturous pun re: the iPod prize! )

Hi David,
I was only teasing about the gauntlet mate.

You’d best enter!
