Nested Deforms

#1

I have a simple Bend deformation that I move an object into, giving a sort converyer belt bending motion. Works great for one bend, but I want to add a second deform to re-bend the belt into a new direction. When I add the second deofrm, everything goes crazy.

Can you nest deformers?

I use multiple deforms (20-30) all the time… you have to plan well… and make sure to use your regions properly… if you give more information, I can help you plan the deforms.

I’m not in front of EIAQS, so I can;t whip up a quick sample image of what I’m trying to do, so bear with me while I try and explain  Not terribly complicated really.

Imagine a “belt” made from a squashed and stretched cube. My goal it to move it into a series of derormers, cauing the belt to bend into a “Z” shape. The first bend would bend about 120 degrees which would make the belt move down and to the left (top rt. corner of the Z). The second deformer would bend it back straight, so it leaves moving horizontally toward the right (bottom of the Z).

The first deform works perfectly, but if/when I try and add the second, it get’s all wonky.

Does this make sense? I’ll try and post some images when I get a chance.

I dont know if this is exactly what you are looking for… but I whipped up an example project for you…

Wow, that was quick. Thanks for making me feel inferior

That’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for, except I need to deform along a diff axis. I’m sure it will work just fine. I’m not in front of EIAS at the moment, but will give your sample project a try as soon as I get home.

Thanks!

I use the deforms a LOT… this sign was created with deforms…
