I need to build a budget computer for 3d modeling/animation. I’m currently running AMD Phenom II x6 3.0, ATI Radeon 1gb 6870, 16gb ram with an Asus crosshair V.
I want to go Intel based now to speed up my rendering. Can anyone recommend hardware for a $700/800 budget? Thanks in advanced.
In Cinebench R15 your current processor does about 475 points from what I’m finding online. A $300 quad core like the Intel Core i7-4790K does about 880 points but a $300 processor is hard to accommodate in a $700 or $800 build if buying all new stuff. Do you plan to reuse any of the components like the case, power supply, drives, graphics card?
$700 won’t buy you any computer worth having, your only option for that money is an upgrade. You havent listed your motherboard, but you may find the 9590 @4.7GHz is compatible at around $300. Then you have $400 left to play with for a new gfx card and possibly psu upgrade to support it. 16 gigs of memory is fine.
