Hi!
So, I’ve been trying to learn ZBrush (R6) on and off for months now. I’ve watched hours of tutorials, and picked up alot of nuances of the program. Yet, I can’t seem to apply them when it comes time to sculpt. I’ve got 2/3 main problems I can’t seem to wrap my head around, if anyone can help me out. And feel free to talk to me like I’m an idiot, it may be the only way I can come to grips with the Z.It’s by far the most frustrating software I’ve opened, which strange considering the amazing works I’ve seen come from it.

Subtools. For example, I’m trying to model a spiral made of water/splashes. I plan to sculpt the bass shape, and then sculpt several standalone splashes/shapes. Now, everytime I try to add a new shape, it either erases my original, or combines them. Which renders them both useless. I’ve seen tuts on append/insert, and both still seem to just not work for me somehow. I plan to have about 50ish separate layers/tools (I’m a PS guy). Trying to make all of these splashes from one sphere seems rather impossible. I also tried using the helix tool, assuming it would work like C4D, which it didn’t.

Dynamesh. So I understand that the point of this tool is to remap your geometry while morphing your shape. It sounds amazing. Yet, sometimes I can get it to work, and sometimes I hit it, thinking it activated, and I go to remap it, and it was never active, rendering my sculpt completely useless. Basically, I draw a sphere, hit edit, convert to polymesh 3D, and then add Dynamesh, move/sculpt, remesh repeat. Am I missing something? Is there some hidden secret to activate it?

Going from geometric shapes to detailed sculpts. Now, while playing around, trying to learn the tools, brushes, etc; I’ve gotten into detailing a bit. Yet I can never seem to “remove” the geometric wireframe look. Am I simply not detailing properly yet, or will it look like this until I go to render it out? Is the general workflow to dynamesh constantly until your shapes are defined, and then subdivide when adding finer detail? Or am I off on that.
I’m also completely serious about finding a ZBrush tutor, for some personal tutoring. Payment, or exchange of services if anyone is looking for some advanced Photoshop lessons, or various other software. So anyone who is interested, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
