Need particle tool advice

#1

I need suggestions on which particle tool to purchase for EI. I currently have 6.5 PPC. but look to upgrade after Tesla comes out. It appears Northern Lights is more on top of UB stuff. But PowerParticles at least from what I read has a better preview.

Does the current PowerParticles Pro work with 6.5 PPC?

Realflow is to much $ for me. Has anyone had anyluck using a third app like Blender?

Thanks

I guess I would ask what you want to do. Particular for AE is very powerful, otherwise, my money would be with Dante.

Use Particular in AfterEffects. It isn’t hard to translate camera and path data between EI and AE (there’s a utility out there somewhere for that) and you’ll take years off your life with the stress caused by doing particles in 3D.

AE is simply hands-down more controlable, faster, more flexible, and more stable. Particular combined with Starglow is unbeatable.

That said, if you MUST insist on doing particles in EI, use Dante. Its a superb particle system. If Blair ported his creation over to AE, it would be a better solution than Particular, but again, you’re saving yourself hours and hours of trouble by just doing it in post right from the start.

Dante does not render in EI 7. I would definately go with Particular in After Effects.

You can’t beat Particular’s particles along a path.

Thanks for the suggestions. Particular looks good. I guess I’ll need to finally upgrade my AE 5.5. I think with Particular and Rodeo I should be ok.

Rodeo’s another one I’d love to see brought to AE. There’s ZERO plugins on the market in ae for doing physics. Huge opportunity, I’d think.

I own both and get much better output significantly FASTER with particle illusion.
Particular is nice and clean, but is a dog in performance and is harder to get a look
“smoke” “water” sparks easily and adjustably.

my 2 cents.
