Need Licensing HELP

#1

I am on a dynamic IP and I am losing my ability to connect with my licensing server whenever my IP happens to change (now and then). Autodesk tech support walked me through changing the address to the new IP a week ago and now I am getting the old IP again = no service.

Problem is that AD is not very helpful at the moment — licensing refers me to tech, who refers me to licensing. The phone connection at AD is poor and this is driving me NUTS.

Any ideas? I know I should probably change some of my configurations to the host NAME instead of the IP, but right now I can’t find all of the necessary files. I know one is in the registry but can’t locate it.

ANY help would be much appreciated.

ARGGGH.

Have a look here:

There’s a bunch of stuff there that might help you out.
Do you run the license server on the same pc as Softimage? 32 bit or 63 bit?

You don’t need to edit the registry. setenv.bat specifies the location of the license server. Or did you modify setenv.bat so that it no longer sets ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_PATH?

This should be all you need to do:

Edit setenv.bat and use the hostname to specify the location of the license server:

Are the license server and Softimage both installed on the same Vista/Windows 7 computer?
If so, you’ll need to install the IPv6 update so you can use the hostname.

Thanks, Stephen.

I think the v6 update might be what’s missing. I could only get my license to be recognized by using my host IP, which is what led to this problem.

My path to the license file is fine, everything is on the same computer. my workaround has been to edit the host IP in the registry (SI support gave me that a while back). I remembered the location and got running again, but the update should get me on track.

Many thanks.

You can delete the registry value and use setenv.bat.

Softimage will actually recreate the registry value the next time you start up. Typically the registry has the same license server location as setenv.bat, but over time you can end up with a list of non-valid locations in the registry.
