Need help with Point to Surface Constraint nCloth

I have an imported and skinned mesh .obj being driven by a rig made natively in Maya.

The skinning and rig works perfectly fine but now I am to the point where I need to attach nCloth pieces and I can’t seem to Point to Surface Constrain the verts to the root mesh. Here is a video demonstrating my woes:

Hi,

I’m not sure about the problem but you may select the rigged mesh and open the Hypergraph connections. Because of the deformer you have several duplicated meshes. Sometimes Maya gets confused which shape to use for the constrain. You could try to select the shape instead of the mesh in the viewport.

Another problem that sometimes occurs is when several objects in your scene posses the same name. You could try to select the shapes by name. If there is another shape with the same name maya will throw an error.
