Need help w/Projection Brush glitch

#1

I’m getting an odd glitch in Mudbox 2010 on a new macbook pro running snow leopard.

http://picturepush.com/public/2431353
This is as I try to paint with the projection brush, as I stroke I get a kind of randomized static view of the stencil that I can drag across the model but it only leaves a faint trail of pixelated mess behind http://picturepush.com/public/2431396

No mater what Channel or filetype I save as it’s still the same problem specific only to the projection brush, the stencils work fine for the paint and sculpting brushes. My UV maps are fine, they’re neat and ordered, I can’t see any cause for this at all.
Unless it’s A) A Snow Leopard/Mudbox 2010 issue
B) Just a mac/mudbox 2010 issue
or what I’m fearing it to be is
C) An issue with the graphics cards in the new macbook pros, perhaps that coupled with Snow Leopards gpu stuff and Mudbox 2010.

Ima try running the mac in better battery performance mode, as far as I know it only uses one of the graphics cards when in that mode. Beyond that I spose I’ll have to try Mudbox 2009

It seems a fix is beyond me, anyone got any ideas?

I know this won’t help while you’re painting the texture, but if you paint it thusly, and it’s all messed up, what does the image file look like when you export it?

I’m having similar obnoxious problems with the projection brush, only under Win7 / Mud 2009. Not the same problem, but the projection brush is useless at this point. I mean it’s doing similar things, but my artifacts don’t look the same.

Note that it works fine on my Quadro, but on my Geforce 7950GT it doesn’t work fine.

Well in the UV view it looks equally as messed up. I’ll try out your suggestion and a couple other things, I had to drop it and set up in zbrush to save time, but I’m going back to Mudbox now to get to the bottom of this. I’ll let you know of my findings. Thanks for the tip :]

Right so, the texture maps are also distorted http://picturepush.com/public/2439137 . On the mac I tried switching to a lower energy setting, therefor only using one graphics card and I still had the same problem. I’m gonna have a look around on other forums for anyone with a similar problem.

Right so, here’s what I did.

I used amnesia (mac) to completely clear out Mudbox
Then reinstalled 2010 - didn’t work
I then cleared it out again and reinstalled Mudbox 2009 - did work
So it’s a 2010 issue
I’ll wait for a couple updates before I got back to Mudbox 2010

hey shea dunne aka Four Things!
i need your help…

i tried to private messaged you but it didnt allow me
as this thread is about zbrush & not Maya…

im running maya on brand new Macbookpro osx 10.6.4
and im encountering a very similar issue as yours…( i rather use the touchpad than a silly mouse)

For no apparent reason my two finger touchpad zoom is causing pblm on maya specifically with graph editor…

i read your thread but it doesnt solve my issue…

on my maya pref if i turn on 2 button mouse tracking device as opposed to 3
if I press command it works, i can easily edit my tangents etc…

but then the touchpad zoom stops working only in the viewports…

so in the end, quitting maya restarting etc its either
i can use the touchpad to zoom and out, and i cant edit my tangents on graph editor or
or
the other way round
but i cant have them both working at the same time…
how do you edit tangents with your touchpad on maya graph editor?

let me know if you can solve it!

many thanks!

Baystreet, stop using the touchpad and get a mouse. Any three-button mouse will do.
