Need help in Illustrator

#1

Hi everyone,
Sorry if I posted on the wrong section…but I cannot find the illustrator section

Im currently learning illustrator and Im doing a logo.
I created a flower shape and I would like to have those white lines cut into the shape so that it appears transparent. The line are in a path , unclosed path.
Please see the image:

If I understand you correctly, you want the white “vein” lines to be cut out of the body of the flower, correct? If the vein lines are single lines that are stroked you will need to outline the stroked lines, then, in the pathfinder pallet, subtract the outline strokes from the main flower shape. Once you’ve subtracted the lines, go to Object/Expand Appearance and you should have a flower with lines cut out of it. I hope this is what you were after.

Thanks!!! for replying^^
yeah I want that where the white linese are showing are cut into the dark flower shape. (so meaning we don’t see the white lines anymore)

Im not too sure to understand about outline them? ><

This is what I tried before( I selected the “vein” white lines and the flower shape, then i openned up the pathfinder pallet and I clicked on subtract; but it doesn’t work since the “vein” white lines are unclosed path --> see image 2)
Sorry my illustrator is in chinese, but the function should be the same lol

You have to make your white stroked lines filled shapes by selecting the lines and going to Object/Path/Outline Stroke.

One thing I noticed about your design is that the “vein” lines end at the edge of the flower. This may be why you are getting closed veins. The veins should extend a little past the edge of the flower so the points don’t merge.
