Nasty crashbug inLinux

#1

I’m running 0.98.15a and there seems to be a nasty crashbug when I set the mouse mode to Maya and try to pan with alt+mmb, Wings crashes and screws up my mouse (should have compiled usb to module :()

The same does not go for the Windows version on the same box, it can use the mmb just fine.

I’m wondering if anyone else has been having this problem, Nendo mode runs just fine so I can use that until this gets fixed.

p.s. i’m using the Wings distribution found in the Debian Sid archive.

After playing around with it for a while I discovered that I also crashed in Nendo/Mirai mode, hence this has something to do with just entering pan-mode in Linux.

Btw my system is as follows:

Nforce 1 w/builtin GF2mx
amd 1700xp
512 ram

The version that Debian Sid was using before the upgrade worked perfectly so this could probably be a bug in some recent additions ?

hmm. i am curious as to how you even got it compiled. i couldnt get it to compile. im also running RH9

.

#4

Im using precompiled .deb packages
I have yet to compile it myself but I prefer not to since using the Debian packaging system is such a bliss

Bjorn suggested that the problem might have something to do with the version of Erlang, when I get time i’m gonna look closer at that.

#5

i have the same problem with sid now… i had it using sarge allready, but now i ve updated and its not bettre …

#6

0.98.15a seems to work fine on Gentoo, compiled from source.

#7

I wonder if the dude thats packaging it for Debian made some error :hmm:

#8

… or what ever

anyway i compiled the newest wings by myself and the bug disappeared - its worth it

#9

The problem with Debian is that Sid is using the latest version of Erlang and Wings wants an older one.

The wings source now seems to come bundled with a stripped down version of erlang so I hope that can solve the package conflight.
