my vfs WIP reel

#1

so beginning my demo reel and decided to post my wip here so you guys can give me some feedback, for me to improve.
my demo reel is going to be about modeling and i´m doing one car, one environment, and try and do 2 characters.
will post designs further along the way.
with all that said here s my first piece, about 80% done ( still need some tweaks in shaders and reflections)
C&C are most welcome

#2

so with only 3 months to finish i got a few mo0re work done and to show, C&C are welcome

#3

more stuff…

#4

my character wip

#5

Its alright I guess, for a bunch of boxes.

#6

QFT
Keep up the good work

Looking at your work, I think your best strength is in the environment. The skull head is quite impressive too. Maybe you want to put more focus in the showing your strength in it.

#8

you know I’m just playin Omar, love your work. You should post the body for the monster, and the concept design as well. Your street is very clean as well. Maybe in your animation, if you have time, some papers and such flying by, and the lamp can swing back and forth in the wind (or maybe a little window latch can). Perhaps a small puddle as the darkness of the ground suggests it could have rained recently. And if there are people living in the building on the left, one of the shutters can close subtly suggesting someone living there.

#9

I have to agree with PKD! THe environment’s really nice. As for the character, it feels a bit like there’s no definite concept behind it… kinda disjointed and I’m not really sure what it’s about. Looking forward to seeing how it develops

#10

yap i m still trying to figure out the proportions of my character but later today i´ll post the image of the body so you guys can see it

#11

Hey Omar, neat stuff! I didn’t know you were also doing a character, cool! but I do agree with Magda about the concept. Sculpt is great though, love to see more!

man, can’t wait for the reels from you guys…

#12

thanks for the c&c.
i m still trying to get this character right, because when i tried to follow the designs the proportions didn t work so now i´m going a little free style on him.
here s the 4th version of the body

#13

I love the realism in the environment. Looks really good.
About the character its coming along and I wish it ends up as well as the environment.

#14

very nice omar!

what are you studying there at VFS? i see that you are an architect. I’m too but i wanna focus on 3d a 100% and i’m interested in hearing your story. could you tell me briefly about it?

#15

The environment is fantastic, very realistic.
The car is decent, it’s just that fancy sports cars are over-done.
It also sticks out a bit from your other assets, the environment’s dirty, and I’m assuming that skull-ish creature will be rather messed up, and then there’s a perfectly clean several hundred thousand dollar sports car. I’m not saying I don’t like it, but a beat up, slightly rusted old car would probably give a bit more continuity and interest.

I’m sure you’re still working on it, but that skull creature is a bit…smooth at the moment. I would give him more defined muscle stridations, and some ‘nasty’ areas.

I’m interested to see how these progress.
Keep up the great work.

nico3d - not big story, been an architect for 5 years now, just got tired of it and decided to change lifestyle :D. vfs is a great place to get to know people who eventually will help me do that. that s why i choose vfs.

mLink - i decided to make the car all shiny to try and show my diversity in shaders and modelling, if i make it all dirt i will not be able to show my variety os shader work that i got now on my works. about the skull, yap still a long way to go, it s my final piece and i got 2 more months to finish it

#17

so decided to let the old skeletor look behind and do something diferent. here s the update on the head support. try to mix a little bit of technology with old knights armour

#18

Hey man!

the new version is coming along quite nicelly as well, my only comment would be that the tendons holding the jaw wouldn’t do it. They’re too thin, the jaw would’t be still in that position… my suggestion would be keeping the bone on at least one side of it, and then hinge it kinda from there, making it crooked…

anyways, great job man, let me know when you have more rendered, even playblasted of that awesome camera you’d going on the environment, hehe.
cheers man, take care!

#19

LKalavera thanks dude, you right, still got to figure out how to make that stuff believeble. the bone is a good idea
about the movie i got an tes animation already done but i don t know where to host it. if you got ideas i will post it here
