probably it lacks a focal point?

#3

Hmm… you have a point… Well I’m gonna redo the whole scene… thanks!

I think its really great, you could split that into a lot of different images.

I think at the moment its not quite working as you get a feeling they should all be existing in the same space and drawn from the same viewpoint. I really don’t think its a lack of finish or polish its the perspective and differing FOV between each element that’s throwing the image off. The actual elements themselves are fine, i’m guessing you did the drawings separately and comped them together?

If your going for a montage of separate images you could push that more I think.

Also the typeface is tangent to the top of the page, you definitely want some space for it to breath up there. The typography is also looking a bit squashed.

Ouf! You’re strong! lol

Ya that’s should do the work

But all the point is, this forum is for WIP thread. If someone expose his work in final stage and get critics, it’s hard to be able to change something.

You should have post earlier your work in sketch mode.

But yah cool scene overall.

Verdic, I did a little sketch of your illustration, I hope you don’t mind. You got all your elements and story designed great, sometimes redrawing from the ground up is a lot faster in the long run.

Thank u guys so much!

Scote… yes I should of post this image in WIP… as you say in sketch mode… I will do that next time…

conbom… thanks for your illustration… it help alot… you can get so sucked into your own creation that it can be hard to see outside it… lol! I drawings the image all in one place… I started out with just the girl (bride of frankenstein) and the two guys (dr frankenstein and igor)… I added the monster and everything else as I added more canvas… so I do see what you guys are saying… the 3 elements could be images in themselves… I have some ideas now… but not sure of I’m gonna brake down the image or just moved the elements around to work together or not… like conbom sketch… I like it vary much and I’m gonna see what I can come up with… I might just stat over lol! Well I’m at a friends house… so I will be home tomorrow and have something posted by the end of tomorrow…

Thanks again you guys!

Hey Vedic-kings
I just wanted to say that your second picture - the one above - is so much better. The composition works! Also I really like the way you receive critique! It makes people want to help you. Nice job!

Imagine if you simplified your image to the level of abstraction of just shapes, values, colors, and edges. Does it still look interesting in its overall visual design of thel composition? If not, then you are building the details of your image on a weak foundation.

When your images still looks interesting visually at the most basic abstract level, is when you have a solid composition. So arrange the main shapes, values, and colors of your image at the most simplified, abstract level so that it has a strong sense of visual design, before even considering any details.

Lasphere… Thanks!

Lunatique… I thought about what you said and you are right! So I have started a whole new scene… I’m trying to make it work… the lighting… the shapes, design… and a little more simple as in there is more of a focal point… Thank u for taking your time to explain to me what I need to work on…

I hope I’m heading in the right direction now!

off to work… what do u guys think?

#13

I like the last post, looks interesting ,my suggestions would be to lighten it up a bit,add some foliage in the background to go with the trees and then lastly the female characters pants I would pull up a bit ,butt that might just be personal preference.

#14

Thanks soletorcher for your reply…

Well I have done more to the scene… as well as lighting up the scene and pulling up the girls pants. lol! Well I think its turning out nice… What do u guys think? I have much more to do! I’m having fun with it…

The technical level is good, but not feeling the image. Firstly, it feels flat. The 3 characters are on the same plane perpendicular to the screen. Even the tress are more or less laying on the same plane.
