My presious particles

#1

What is the best, easiest and fastest(PhysX support) 3D application to simulate particle systems right now? I’m a web designer, and after hours I like to play with them in RF/3DS Max, but it’s so frustrating to simulate even a mid-quality setting, even though I have a Q6600@3,14Ghz. I’m semi-advanced in C4D, but unfortunately C4D doesn’t have great tools for simulation, and no PhysX. I use it mainly for modeling and static renders.
Currently Im playing in 3DS Max RayFire and FumeFX plugins, but overall I think that 3DS Max has a terrible user interface, and if there is a better choice, I would like to omit 3DS.

so, if u want to omit 3ds max, why u post in 3ds max forum?

#3

Because there isn’t a particle board?

This is a 3dsmax sub-forum about the particle flow, a particle system from 3dsmax. So you have to stick with 3dsmax if you want to use it. Maybe you should try the C4D forum, it have thinking particle as a plugin.

I see that I won’t get any help here. Never mind.

Enstriel,

Did you consider the option of using Box#2 with PFlow in 3ds Max? It has PhysX support, and quite fast.

You say “i wan’t to omit 3ds max”, so… u can post in XSI, MAYA, or C4D forums…

this is the 3ds max forum, and u want to omit this software…

First of all you can only pick two of the three you are asking about, then decide.

In Max you have - Particle Flow Tools Box#2 - RayFire - Thinking Particles

You can fully customize your own, that will at least help with your interface disparity.

The debate of a better choice, hmm, look at the triangle again. Houdini (you probably won’t like the interface and the price tag), XSI+Ice (there again easiest to learn, that may be your hurdle) is your next best bet.

That is what I was going to say. Extremely fast, reliable, and fairly easy to learn as long as you have a little basic knowledge of how Particle Flow works.

They come here because the Max users are always the ones with the answers, and the best VFX advice. I mean come on, it is 3DS Max (and no, it isnt just for games).
