okay, well, not the MASTER of web design, but a nice little site - a friend of mine did it up for me - if you’d like to check out my anim section especially (kinda relates to this section of cgtalk) -all done in Flash 4.0, no, no rotoscoping - some of the stuff was for the show Olliver’s Adventures, showing on Teletoon in Canada, and will be showing in the states this fall, I believe. Very Nice site you have going there. I am very partial to Flash myself and am in the process of redesigning my own site.
I really like the stuff you have there, I looked through all the sections and really liked not only your animations but your line drawings as well.
My only real crit is in some sections you need a back and forward button so you don’t have to click back to the main page before viewing the next image (Sketches does this, Life Drawings, Illustrations, and Resume do not).
The loading screen is very cool cause it shows off some of your work before the site ever opens, nice touch!

Thanks, Velk! Ya, the loading page anim thing was Ron’s idea (the friend who put it all together) - I liked it, too! Good idea about the button thing - REALLY new at this so any crits help - thanks again!

First off…truly excellent work. I am very impressed and you have a great artistic style.
Here are my crits for the site:
It would be nice to have a button that takes you directly back to the main page, rather than having to back out to the main page level-by-level.
Sometimes I when returning to the main page I would have to sit through the loading screen, other times I would just get the animated intro. I’m not sure what I was doing to cause one or the other but it would be nice to see the animation once when a user first visits.
Also…the times when i got the loading screen my browser would reposition itself. That was kind of annoying since I would have it placed where I wanted it and then it would jump back to its point of origin.
Those are just minor tweaks so take them as you will. I wouldn’t change anything about the look of the site though…you’ve got a great style to your art.
great stuff. I really love your animation style and especially the color choices on your backgrounds (like the egyptian ones.). Only thing i’d work on as was mentioned is adding a home button, i’ve learned that people kind of expect it on each page.
it’s also an issue i’ve debated re: window resizing. A lot of people like to design for 600 x 800 and have the visitor’s screen resize. What i’ve learned from asking people is that about 50% of them hate having their windows resize, especially people who are on 1024 resolution and don’t wanna have a smaller screen for one website. So i’ve gone away from that recently. Personal decision though.

Thanks, Leebert and malcomvexxed ; Ya, the home button thing - I thought there were enough without having one per page, but it’s obviously not - will fix! As for resizing the page, I’ll have to mention that to the friend of mine who designed the site - he might’ve set something so that it would do that - I know he mentioned something about the screen size matching the swf flash file for the site - if it’s too annoying, it’ll be fixed - don’t want people to be annoyed while viewing my stuff!
yes, malcolmvexxed, it’s all done in flash, with a wacom - still classical, without the hassle of scanning and line-testing!

Love your art style for your site’ I just found navigating a bit laborious, but then again I was using IE6. Maybe some navigation buttons to return back are faulty.

You do great work ,and your style is banging, I liked the walk anim of the Griffin. Other demos you have are very good too, my other fav was the bird giving the semi shakespeare speech,that voice timing is great! I have flash MX 2004 , I’m still a little intimedated by the depth of tools and control it has. I guess I’m going to have to suck it up and dive into it.
There’s a flash competition call the The Greatest Story Never Told II,you should get a story together and enter in it. again, your site is great , except it has some navigation flaws,I wanted to go back to the main page,but it shut the window down.
