Cool, I really like the elephant. You might want to grab a copy of Cinema4DCE from a coverdisk btw, it makes sweet renders and lots of peeps use it to render out their Wings stuff.

coverdisk? i was reading somewhere about a demo or something. but i think that program is out of my price range right now, newborns are expensive;)

Yeah, you can get it on the coverdisks of mags like 3DWorld and Computerarts ( CE6.0 = covermount edition 6.0 ) , I think you can probably get them in the states from larger newsagents.
They’re about a fiver over here, so that’s…10 bucks? maybe more if it has to be imported I suppose, maths was never my strong point.

Limited render size, still very handy though, nice renders, very fast even on a rubbish PC and there’s a cellshade rendermode that you might like. Have a scan at the C4D forum to get a better idea of what Cinema can do, the full version is on something like 8.5 by now, but even CE6.0 is still light years beyond the default Wings renders.

btw, if you run out of space on your pic host, just use an msn group, let Uncle Bill pay…

If your machine supports Java (which don’t?) you can run Art of Illusion which imports .obj and renders with things like photon mapping, caustics, global illumination and all that stuff.

The app is free, so you can render whatever size/resolution you like.

I’ve just done a tute on importing UV textured wings models:

(Forgive the bad plane – I should have done a nice elephant like yours!)

Also, an alternative way to handle UV mapping would be UVMapper Classic , this is quite a nifty way to get uvmaps on an .obj file and it’s free.
