My Last Image Contest Pic

#1

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to get some opinions on my last entry. I would like to know what I could have done better, or what I did wrong.

I can probably think of one off the top of my head, more detail. It took ten hours to render it as it is, and I thought that was stretching it.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Here’s the Image.

Less detail. More stylization. More of an “art” statement by the artist.

Content:
As it is, it looks haphazard, like things are just as they are for no real reason.

Style:
The colors are without any sort of cohesiveness. Though you could make an arguement they are realistic, ultimately: so what? They’re not very interesting to look at.

Posing:
The poses of your characters are somewhat weak, especially in light of the fact that they are superheros/villains. Check out How to Draw the Marvel Way to grasp why your poses are weak for these two characters in particular, or any animation book as to why the poses are weak just in how you “read” them- imagine them as sillhouettes and you’ll see what I mean.

I’m in the middle of finals and don’t have huge chunks of time right now or I’d tell you more about what you did right, but suffice it to say you do have something to work with there, and assuming you modelled and textured all that yourself you’ve put forth a great effort. Keep at it- practice practice practice…

Great comments. THanks for the reply. Yeah, superheroes aren’t my thing so the poses were something I should have woked on more.

Thanks again.
