My Disco Girl WIP

#1

I always feared doing organic figures, especially using zbrush since the interface scares me, but seeing the work on this site motivated me to atleast attempt this. Anyway, feel free to give me critiques on my progress so far. Also don’t hesitate to give me any helpful tutorials that might be able to help me. I also need help with the hair and hands.

Hey man!

That is a REALLY nice start!

Looks cool!

The first thing that comes to my attention is the shoulders and upper arms, they seem deformed upwards and without volume, dunno if you are still working on that part, but thats what I first see trying to look for problems.

When I started modeling humans I tryed to look for a lot of anatomy references, a lot of them from medicine books, it gives a lot of insight on where you need sharper volumes, where bones are close to the skin, textured ones, where muscle are closer to the skin, and softer ones, where fat is closer to the skin.

Also, if you can afford, 3D.sk is an excellent site for both reference and texture work.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the helpful advice. I’ll try to look at some anotomy references. Someone emailed me about making the body softer since she’s a woman, not a man, so I’ll try to do that as well. I’m not sure what 3D.sk is but i’ll check it out

I spent 2-3 hours trying to make the arm and abdomen changes, but to be honest sculpting accurate anatomy is tougher than I thought it would be. Anyway here’s my progress so far. Also if anyone knows how to sculpt hair (afro) don’t hesitate to point me in the right direction.

Here's the back, but to be honest I haven't done that much work with it so far.
