multiple clothfx on single object

#1

hey all,

can anybody point me in the right direction for having multiple instances of clothfx on 1 object, both with differnt settings?

imagine i have a character with layers of skirts, i have the wind blowing some layers very easily and i’d like some layers to be less influenced.

any thoughts?

thanks in advance

perhaps use weight maps to adjust the influence?

Personally I would save each individual layer as a separate object. Then you can separate the clothfx instances with each object and set any interactive parameters accordingly.

yep, this is the way…

can anybody give a brief pointer about how i’d use weight maps in dynamics. cant quite get my head around it

Uh,… I tested it, but it is harder than I though,… the thing is that the dynamics vary a Lot on how they are being calulated using different settings and polyflow, so being no better at ClothFX than I am, I unfortunatly failed this test. I think it should/could be possible though.
I’m afraid you need a ClothFX expert on this one…

My attempt, failed as one can see…
using weights and selfcollision set to on.

…bit closer, using wind to test this time

I havn’t tried, but do u think using the groups setting will work

setup each part of the skirt to its own group and then setup the dynamics for each group.

Using goups is an idea, though you’d stil need the right ClothFX settings/ or weightmap settings.

I noticed what I posted above is focused on the weightmap problem part of it, as I’m not using several layers. Still, the test is valid, though depends on how the skirt is made.

Making 2 fabrics in one piece was harder than I thought, many settings to tweak.
