Multi-layer skin shader.

#1

Has anyone tried making a multi-layer skin shader? How would I go about such a thing? Would I be better off doing multiple renders and comping?

I am thinking of probably just having a blood layer and an epi-dermis layer with seperate maps for each (I have seen this kind of thing done in mental-ray).

Thanks,

John

You can blend in as many layers as you want in Messiah shaders.

Cool… I will look into it.

I don’t suppose anyone has tried this? Any tips?

Don´t use the object layer opacity (keychannel 31) I find this feature messiahs most unstable part currently (at least when activating keyframes), instead build your layers inside one material with the help of nodes and the opacity input of them.
IMHO a better approach anyway since you can borrow stuff from one layer and use as a input for controlling things in another.
