Hi there. Once again I dust off Messiah and try to do something pretty basic and fall flat on my face.
I am trying to animate a safe door opening for some reference I need. I get the door in the correct position but when I try to move the pivot point to the edge of the door (In setup) the door keeps moving. I’ve been through the docs and scanned the forum and it seems as if I should just be able to move the pivot.
Any help is gratefully recieved. I’m using Messiah studio 2.1a
Moving the pivot point.
Hi Sqeaky,
Just yesterday I did something similar with some doors and a window of a horse stable and ran into the same oddness. I don’t think I ever understood exactly how the pivot is thought to be used in messiah or I knew it once and forgot it because of non-intuitiveness - wouldn’t be the first time
What I did after I got annoyed with the pivot was just placing a null at the rotation axis and parenting the door/windows to that with parent in place.
Cheers!
I gave up too and put a bone in the door. The pivot point is a bit too unfathomable for my ‘wittle bwain’. Good that there are a couple of ways around it though.
Actually I eventually gave up on Messiah entirely for this project as I discovered Swift 3D. My door was just reference for some Flash animation so Swift saves me having to trace everything out in Flash. (Feature request: Messiah to Flash export?)
I WILL learn to use Messiah one day though!
Huge Regards

I cannot move the pivot in the world view. I tried all the different coordinates types. The only way to move the pivot is through the text fields by either changing the numbers or using the up and down arrows in those text fields. What’s up with that? Am I missing something?
All I can say is “soon”. We have some bigger features that were planned for the next update, but it appears that they will take more time than expected. So, we’ll be releasing an interum maintenance update so everyone can take advantage of the fixes.
We’ll let you know when…
