movie

Hi guys

So I’m doing a camera tracking movie, live action with all CG characters, I would like to know two things, can I seamlessly go from a live action shot to a 3D shot and then back to live action with out cuts, and how do u get a character to walk behind a object that was there in a live backplate, my best guess is to camera map it and then track it but if any one has a different idea I would love to hear it

Thanks for any help

Not exactly Maya related…
Transitioning between shots seamlessly isn’t something someone can explain in a thread, it takes know-how both on set and in post. It’s a bit ambitious given your apparent level of expertise.

As for making a character walk behind something in plate, sure, you could use photogrammetry (what you suggest), but more commonly you would rotoscope the plates and tracked elements would be there mostly for things like shadow catching, light contribution and so on. That falls squarely into compositing territory.

Moving this to compositing for you as there’s nothing application specific to your questions.

Hi The_jacO

sorry if this is not Maya related, I just thought since I have modelled my characters in Maya and I will do all the animation and tracking points with in Maya, I though this was the place to go, anyway thanks for your help, no offence but some one saying I cant do something normally just spurs me on, so compositing is the way to go, thanks for your help
