Mouse button shortcuts for Vue 7.5

I was trying to set them up like 3ds’s for pan, zoom, rotate. Ran into a few problems:

-It DID allow me to set them w/mouse button assignments (rolling mmb zooms; mmb pans; mmb + alt rotates) but the pan won’t work in Main camera view, but WILL in the ortho views. And rotate rotates the whole scene, not around the object.
Why is this?

And I am brand new to Vue, just dled the PLE version yesterday. I couldn’t find anything about mouse button shortcuts here.
