Motionbuilder and .bvh T-pose

#1

Hello,
I’m trying some free bvh files in motionbuilder, but most of them doesn’t have T-pose, so when I try to retarget them to my rig, it looks strange. I tried to zero all bones, but I don’t get T-pose , just some strange pose again. Is there any way to work without T-pose, or to make one?

Thanks

Have a look at Bvhacker. You can load up the bvh file and have a look at the Tpose if there is one - there should be one embedded. If not, I think you can make one.

You can make one t-pose for yourself and if all motion files use same bone name and hierarchy, you can use it for All:

1- Import one of them and select all bones and delete all keys.
2- Rotate bones manually and make ONE perfect T-Pose.
3- Characterize your skeleton and save file.
4- Then you can drag and drop bvh file into the Mobu and select “Import Options”. Then select Merge and create a new take.
5- Now your motion can be used as a source for other characters in it’s take.

Also you can import multiple bvh files all at once.
