more C4D plugin devs would be a good thing

Hey folks. I’m not exactly a graphics programmer (did some OOP game coding back in the days but mostly doing straight CG at the moment) but there’s usually a bunch of stuff being discussed over in the C4D section of CGtalk that makes you think ‘hmm… definitely some room for more plugin developers’.

There’s some really great plugs out there for Cinema like Mesh Surgery, Stormtracer, DPIT etc, but also a lot of stuff that hasn’t been done yet, including things like fluids/fire simulation, behavioral animation (crowds, autonomous characters etc), a muscle system, vehicle simulation/dynamics, a parametric animation rig designer, game exporters with animation support, certain shaders/post effects and various other bits and pieces.

In particular, there’s a lack of connector plugins to use 3rd party render engines like Vray, PRman, MR, Brazil etc to add some diversity to Cinema’s rendering options for pro/studio users.

No idea how easy it is to develop for C4D and I’m not offering money for plugin dev or anything (just a user, sorry :arteest:), but I wanted to post this here on the off chance that there are coders in here who know how to build really powerful CG plugins and are looking for a new platform for their wares that isn’t already as crowded with 3rd party plugs as some are.

C4D has become a really powerful CG app with the last couple of releases and it would be really cool to have more 3rd party devs developing production grade effects/animation plugins for it.

Hi Rendermania,
I definately agree with you tht Cinema can use more third party developers. I think more developers will turn to Cinema as it becomes more popular. I know that I am learning C++ and Cinema’s SDK so I can begin developing some of the things that you mentioned.
