Mootzoid - first plugin for Maya + introducing myself

#41

Great info, thanks. What I mean is more like a button: “cache this mesh now”, and give it new name. Same like in Realflow. Workaround is to export it as a obj file, or other, just not maya (because it will save history with it)

He, he, he… The filaments are already there!
I was trying to get both clear shapes of curves and use filaments as well.
It crashed only after I extended curves something like 3 times the lenght of the curves you can see on the picture…

Nparticles test.

#43

It’s probably a bit bold, but is there any chance to have this plugin working in 3ds Max in the future?

#44

There are currently no plans regarding 3ds max, but that can change quickly.
Let’s see ,)

#45

All right, continuing success for your great plugins.

#46

Just to answer my own question for others,
If you try:

emP4Create -h

It gives help syntax how to add current selection to node, which is excellent…

It’s says in documentation that by pressing left and right CTRL key you can stop meshing (on windows only), but at the moment, it doesn’t work for me, do I need to be switch it on or something ?

Thanks

Als

#47

@Als:
The “L + R CTRL” thing should be on by default. Check out the group “Advanced - Simulation”, just to be sure.
Note that in order to abort the meshing you must press and hold both CTRL keys until the meshing stops.

Hope this helps, cheers!

Eric

#48

Thanks, I will try...

It didn’t work at first. Then I’ve unchecked the option, then checked again and now it works!
Another nParticles test.

Made of curves and only poly object.

Hi Eric

I’ve had my eye on this plugin of yours and now I have to ask do you use the basic delaunay-triangulation as a basis for your meshing or is there something fancier going on?
If you don’t mind me asking…

/risto

#50

@Als: those tests look great!

@ristopuukko: the meshing is based on marching cubes and marching tetrahedrons. The other things, e.g. liquid filaments, use octrees and some own stuff. I am not using any Delaunay triangulation, but I have been wanting to implement that too.

#51

Eric is there a way to add support for Krakatoa (prt) file format?

great work, cheers

#52

As far as I know the .prt is a particle file format, isn’t it?
If there is some sort of .prt reader for Maya then you should be able to mesh them with emPolygonizer4, just the same as RealFlow particles.

#53

yes, they r particles,

but its not the same think as the realflow loader/reader, more like proxy loader, krakatoa load particles in rendertime… so prt loader is just a presentation of particles in viewport

cheers

Beta expired
Is it released now, or there is another beta ?

Thanks

Als

#56

Hey peoples,

Here some short Sunday news.

[ul]
[li]a new beta of emPolygonizer4 has been uploaded (v.4.044).[/li][li]a new beta of emReader has been uploaded (v.1.066).[/li][/ul]Both betas expire on March 15th.
You can download the new betas from my web site.

Don’t know if I mentioned it before, but I am currently working on a better mesher core to produce way better looking meshes. The new core will be implemented in emTopolizer2 (Softimage) and emPolygonizer4 (Maya) end of March.
As a sort of ‘sneak peak’ you can check out the following little R&D video on Vimeo:

This is only one of several great new things to come, so stay tuned

Cheers!
Eric

Very cool stuff!

#58

Great news!
I would like to suggest something if you don’t mind.
When meshing very square objects, there needs to be a way to switch per polygon settings,
so that meshing of a cube can be with much less and more regular polygons.
The best result with this type of mesh I got by increasing quite high LOD on the mesh settings.
Other wish is to be able to “noisefy” the result somehow.
I didn’t get how the adding option works in mel command,
because it seems it always creates new emP4 node.
Is there some more examples how this mel script should work ?

Thanks

Als

#59

@als: there currently is no “adding” option yet. To add further inputs to an existing setup you must do it manually in the node editor.

here the MEL commands to create the emP4 nodes for locators (nulls), curves, polygon meshes and particles (point clouds):

createNode emP4Null
createNode emP4Curve
createNode emP4Polymesh
createNode emP4Pointcloud

Sorry for the user-unfriendliness. All this will get improved soon, promise!

Cheers,
Eric

Thanks for the reply Eric!
Are these only to be used if only one type of topology is used ?
For user friendlines, it would be great when switching creation of the UVWs, to have automatic connection for controling object. I hope request makes sense.
I haven’t spent much time on UVW creation, but this seems most open to interpretation how it works, and I feel it needs a bit more information with examples in manual…

Thanks
