Orthographic design sketch in preparation for modeling:

Moon Town - Animated film in progress
Hey OgLuna
this is looking awesome - I can see why you’ve changed the character shape a bit - the older squashier version has been seen plenty of times but theres a great appeal about it
the vehicle looks ace - love the little legs for landing!
Looking forward to seeing more
ant
this is looking really swish, love the ship design really nice and stylised. cant wait to see more
It looks great.
Perhaps a little more depth in the skull around the eyes.
What 3d package is your “weapon of choice” for this project?
Hi, Doffer
I’m using 3ds max on Moon Town, though a couple of guys helping me out use XSI and Blender for the modeling. But everything gets imported into max for materials, animation, and rendering (and VRAY for the light…)
Thanks for the note!
Thanks, Flash. Thank you for the support, everyone.
There may be a split decision out there but so far everyone has been overwhelmingly positive on my change in direction from the previous version of Cassandra to this:

I say “change” but it’s really a redirect back to the initial idea. I hope you guys like it.
Here’s the model based on the new design, FYI:

Thanks again for having a look.
Wow, very nice Steve,
I’m glad that your back on track and have the character you want modeled and ready to be textured…I think she looks great. I absolutely love the miner dude also, love the light built into his hard hat and his expression.
Thanks, Michael.
Here’s further work to get her face a bit on model, but I did take the liberty to thin out her face and add a nose. shrug Personal preference.

man, your designs are excellent! i love them! so far it all looks great but i got one slight problem
the little girl design (one beside the miner dude) has no feet. in design it looks nice, but in animation it may look wierd. i don’t know though… what do you guys think?
Hi, Gibby. I guess no one else had an opinion, but I thought the lack of feet was odd, too, even though I loved it in the quick sketch.
Here is Cassie with final texture and lighting… and attitude. If you look really closely, you’ll see I’ve added tiny little feet at the bottom of her legs. I think it was a finishing detail she needed.

Thanks for having a look!
